Other Name of next iPhone? (2021)

The iPhone numbering system is out of sync with what actual generation/version/year of phone it is. It no longer matters what it is called
They'll skip it just like they did the 9. Hysteria over the number 13 is just too high. I am 99% certain we will never see an iPhone called 13.
There was really nothing much like that around iOS 13, for example, so hard to say that something related to that would really play much of a role.
There's no point in debating it because presumably no one here works at Apple and can know for certain; we can only make guesses. I don't think the IOS number is comparable, but I know there'd be plenty of people who wouldn't buy a phone with 13 in the name. I think its time for a rebrand anyway and for apple to move towards a yearly naming system. 12s would make sense for the 2021 model; same squared-off edges and screen sizes, but improved with 120 hz, decreased notch perhaps? Then iPhone 22 for the year 2022.
They did make an iOS 13 and some iPhone 6 devices though so I’m really not convinced that Apple gives much about number hysteria.
12S because 12 was a brand new design and the 2021 iPhone will simply be improving the technical aspect of it (120hz, better cameras, etc)
Unless there is a redesign there will always be an S version. Expect no redesign for a while
Well we will see in 11 months. But my money is on 12s; especially since the 12 is a new design.
Or we might see it in 23 months. I’m not claiming it’s the next number for the iPhones but certainly possible at some stage.
Well my prediction is iPhone 12s for 2021 and something entirely new for 2022. We will just have to wait and see.
I agree they could totally make an iPhone 13, but fwiw, we never had an iPhone 3, just 3G and 3GS.
I'll repeat that IOS 13 is just one of those things we went through, but actually planning a marketing campaign for iPhone 13 is another thing.

I agree. They won't remove the hole only 1 year after giving out the usb-c lightening cable to all iphone 12 buyers. That would be a terrible move for the "environment".
