After installing the new update on my iphone 4, I have noticed a few issues. I have tried to pick a recent route and check weather but the program crashes. I tried a new destination and once entered, it went to show me the route map and crashed. I have retained my traffic info and panoramic view, but the panoramic view keeps downloading in the background. It works but I can't stop the download.
The update looks nice but doesn't function if I can't input a destination and get it to work and not crash.

I also tried the update on my old 3Gs and have the same problem with the app crashing when I selected on recent route. I hope this is something that they can easily fix since it renders the application useless.

i would suggest removing the app completely and reinstalling.

I installed this update on my two iPhones both are 3GS but one is on iOS 3.1.3 an the other on 4.

The one on 4 crashed every time I search for new destinations, I deleted it, installed the 1.5.1, add favorites, Routes and Panorama 3D, the I update it again, it shows the favorites, routes and Panorama 3D, but if I pick any favorite it crashes the same way as searching a destination.

On the other iPhone everything works ok no crashes at all.

I will try on my iPad and also on my iPhone 3G to discard bad download, but something tell me is an iOS4 issue.

I uninstalled the app on my 3Gs and installed it again with the traffic and panoramic extras. I entered an address and had it come up on the info screen and it crashed the app just like before. It seems that it is working for some, but it is certainly a problem for my two phones.

Working for me. No issues.

I find that a restart of the phone is good following a large app install or upgrade BEFORE you launch the app. Right now I would suggest a complete uninstall the reinstall and try this approach.

Tried it once with that approach. Trying again as I write this. I fail to understand why it works for some but not all.

After a full uninstall and deletion, I downloaded the app again. Before starting it, did a full restart. Tried to enter an address which crashed the application. I'm not sure what else can be done. There must be an issue that affects some phones and not others.

I just intalled on my iPad, runs fine, no crashes but some menus are unreadable, instead of black button and white letters both are white, that doesnt happen with Navigon 1.5.1

So to sumarize:

iPhone 3GS with iOS 4 chrashes
iPhone 3GS with iOS 3.1.3 runs fine
iPad with iOS 3.2 runs with some glitches

@JustLeft wich Firmware/OS has your iPhone 3GS?

@the-oz-man do you really believe that?

I had this problem on my 3GS with IOS4. I found the only way to fix it was to wipe the phone completely and set it up as a new phone. Now it works fine. It was a real pain having to input all my phone settings and re-install all my apps again though. Thanks Navigon.

Crash

I have the same problem with a 16GB 3GS on iOS4 and 1.6 Navigon

It crashes when it tries to find the info for a destination I enter.

I am tempted to try the painful method of a wipe and install. Has anybody else had success with that method?

It seems re-installing everything didn't cure it. Although it worked yesterday, I have just tried it today and it immediately crashes again after I give it an address. The fault appears to be something to do with the new feature of finding local car parks and weather but I can't find any way of turning off this feature.

Thanks for the info! This saved me hours of headache! Has anyone contacted Navigon about this? Any response from them?

3GS is ios 4 (8a293). To test the Navigon I launched the app selected an address from favorites, then started navigation. I did not go any further than that.

My first experience with Navigon ...

... wasn't exactly ideal!

I've not updated from an older version - bought from new yesterday. Has not worked for me yet, having uninstalled, reinstalled a couple of times and done complete shutdowns on the iPhone and MacBook.

I've filmed the problem here:

Naturally, I want this fixed or a full refund, but iTunes/AppStore does not make this easy (or even possible!)

It was hard to tell from the video, but it looked like you were using an iphone 4. I tried the same steps as you on my ip4 and had no issues.

In reading the notes on the Navigon release, they say it included updated map data. I wonder if that could be part of the issue? I am using Navigon North America and cannot recreate the issue.

Yep, it is iPhone 4. And happens *every* time. No baggage with older versions/update - brand new purchase yesterday.

No problems with my 3gs... i very much like the latest update.

if uninstalling and reinstalling the app only doesnt help then backup the phone and restore the phone.

What do we have in common?

Those that are having issues can we list the version of iPhone and specs as well as the which edition of 1.6 being used:

I have a 16GB 3GS running iOS4
Free space after removing Navigon: 7.34 GB
I am using Navigon 1.6 Europe
