Navigon Response

After posting a poll on Navigon's Facebook page and writing about the problem,
they have responded.

Head over here and take the poll: http://www.facebook.com/NAVIGON

They wrote back and said: "Dear all, thanks for investigating here. Of course we will have a detailled look into this as well - no matter if a few or more of our customers are facing this problem. Of course we want ALL of you being happy with the NAVIGON MobileNavigator. We'll keep you updated on this."

The poll results look like this at the moment:

Working: 38% (3 votes)

Not working: 63% (5 votes)

Fix from Navigon

Dear all, this is what Navigon have investigated:

Thanks for the video! We analyzed it and it seems that the problem appears when the 12h mode is being used in any region other than the US.
So for the time being please use 24h mode when you're regional setting on the iPhone is not United States.

Can anyone test and confirm?

Yep, it has worked for me. So it will probably be a simple fix in Navigon to sort that issue out so that we can revert back to 12h setting. Will try the app out properly later today!

Thanks and let me know how you get on!

I got the 1.6 update for my iPhone 4. Ever since the application is unusable. Every time I want to enter an address it crashes.

However I found a workaround but it is very odd. If I disable the WiFi and all data connections (3g and cellular data) Navigon will work just fine. My final conclusion is that the app crashes while it's trying to get the weather info...

As you'd imagine this is very inconvenient and I'm hoping for a fix sometime soon.

Did you try the 24H mode? It seems to have fixed the problem. See my previous post.

I have a 32g iphone 4 and a 32g iphone 3GS with OS4. Both have shown the exact same issue. Now that Navigon has indicated that changing the clock to the 24 hour setting, my iphone 4 works correctly.
I am in the US and have the full North America app.

Navigon has made a suggestion that could cure the issue for some. Change the system clock to the 24hr setting and try the app again. It worked for me. I read that some people changed their clock back to 12hr and it continued to work correctly. I tried that and found that Navigon now works as it should.
Give it a try and see if it solves the crashing on your iphone.

3GS is ios 4 (8a293). To test the Navigon I launched the app selected an address from favorites, then started navigation. I did not go any further than that.

Well, If I do the same as you it works, it only chrashes whe searching a new destination nomatter if it is an address or a POI :(

Anyone who has Navigon NA and it is working, are the directions that it's providing wildly wrong? I've had a couple instances since updating when it tried to take me east when I needed to go west, took me off the highway to the south when I needed to go north and once when it gave me a 50 mile route to get home 30 miles away. I was just trying out the update when it did this so it didn't get me lost. It finally rerouted after a mile or two, the new route cut off the extra 20 miles and 20 minutes of travel time.

I was just looking to post on Navigon.

On my iPhone 4 it downloads the panorama update, all the time, even rolling over when it hits 1GB and starting over.

My wife's phone downloaded but she gets a black screen with destination icons and they never re-draw so after a few minutes the screen is filled with them.

I would delete and reinstall the app on your phone(s) if it's not working. After reinstalling, reboot the phone before you open the app. I took mine off and reinstalled and it's working a lot better than it was before.

thanks for tip, nutty! seems to work better now

I just installed Navigon on my iPhone 4 and wife's iPhone 3GS.....works great on the 3GS and crashes as soon as I enter an address on iPhone 4.......crashes when getting the weather it seems. How do I change the time from 12h to 24h? I can not seem to find it anywhere. Sucks that this is having problems on the new iPhone when it was just updated. Any help would be appreciated. App is useless right now.

You dont find Time Format Inside navigon, Time format is from Settings -> General -> Date & Time -> 24-Hour-Time (Slide to ON)

if uninstalling and reinstalling the app only doesnt help then backup the phone and restore the phone.

I have Navigon Europe 1.6 installed on iPhone 3GS 32GB running iOS 4. Resident in France, 24h time format. Crashes either the application or the phone ever since the update.

Have finally deciced to uninstall the app, to back up the phone and to restore it. Then reinstalled Navigon - the crashes persist.

An additional odd thing occurred: When trying to restore the previously purchased options Panorama View and Traffic Live, it worked for Panorame but keeps crashing the phone as soon as I try to confirm the "purchase" for Traffic. At one instance, after the phone had restarted, the InApp Purchase dialogue reappeared on the Home Screen (without Navigon being opened), and when I confirmed, the following message was displayed:

"This is not a test user account. Please create a new account in the Sandbox environment" (translated from French).

I think this is a major bug which should be fixed asap, even if it seems to concern only part of the Navigon customers. I am surprised that Navigon has not yet reacted on the substance of this discussion thread...

Thanks for the reply. I figured that out last night and it worked.......I then switched back to 12 hour format and everything is fine so far.
