Navigon Traffic Update?

The facebook entry says full uk postcode as In app purchase.

" the updated version 1.3.0 will also include a new uk postcode navigation feature as an in app purchase"

I guess navigon will update tomorrow and we will know full story.

Ouch. I didn't know that. That's not right. It's one thing to offer an in-app purchase for traffic, but a whole other thing to make someone pay to get something that should have been delivered from the get-go. That said, that is the model for a lot of software, right? Just think about the annual releases from EA on the Madden, NBA Live and NHL series. Incremental changes for the low, low price of $60/year.

Its very odd....given it searches 5 digits i fail to see how searching the extra 2 warrants the effort of an in app purchase!!

Clearly i'm missing something lol....odder still its only UK people affected so they must be thinking ah well...lets chance our arm here, its only 1 area of customers going to be pissed at that!

will be interesting to see how much it is!

i really hope they dont start doing daft in app purchasing like IM+

They are charging because using full postcodes means paying royal snail for the postcodes database which is far from cheap!!

Yup, they are charging for that because they have to pay licensing fees.

Just note that you probably don't want to try to download a Navigon app update on the iPhone itself. It is usually much safer to use iTunes for such a large download.

Hmm, I was going to try downloading it with Unrestrictor3G over AT&T's EDGE network

Which would be a fair comment if *everyone else* was charging for it!

Imagine trying to sell that BS to a standalone unit customer!
