I will need a logo for my wordpress blog (http://themacsplash.com) it should be 206 pixels X 72 pixels. It should be based on a Mac Computer and should have the words The Mac Splash in it. It should have some paint splashes in there also.

here ya go ... seriously though, hire a designer or a Student Designer (Students always need experience)

You could try Freelancer, which is a site specifically meant for soliciting such projects. It attracts people from all over the world with different talents that they are willing to offer up for freelance work.

Actually, we now strongly discourage students working for free -- ever. In today's market there is little value in it, unless the student enjoys working with clients who do not value thier time and have no need to be committed to the project.

Love that chart. Yes, working for free is the worst. Clients totally take advantage of you when you're not charging. If you do a favor for a friend or relative and they take advantage, it can ruin the relationship. My design teacher said he never, ever works for nothing. Even if "something" is just a nice dinner, it still has value.

Are you kidding?

I'm sorry, but a student is not a professional, and professionals are the ones who are paid. What ever happened to gaining experience?

There used to be this thing called an Apprenticeship where you studied alongside the Master, learning the trade, and then setting out on your own.

I think it sets a bad precedent convincing people to charge for something for which they may not yet be qualified for.

citizenzen please could you design a logo to the right size cause I like that one :)

Freelance ≠ Free work

Working in the design industry is a lot like being a robot that follows idiotic client requests "that's nice but it needs to be more webbish", "how hard could designing a logo be", "you're good at that stuff can you do a favor for me and create a logo?" or "can you create it in papyrus?"

Correction... Actually, working in the design industry is more like being a prostitute. A dirty whore who has to find a happy place rather than be outraged or disgusted by clients' moronic requests, like can you work for free. To summarise the design industry it's like being a robot prostitute...

For a designer to work for free it does not make financial sense... Computers, software and my degree COST MONEY THAT I RECOUPE BY WORKING.

I have over $15K of equipment and a HECS debt of $45K which I pay off by working. I think it's a disgraceful request for asking someone to invest time, expertise and effort in creating a design for you for your brand.

Sorry, but that design totally breaks down and becomes unreadable at that size (see attached). You'd need something much simpler and more graphic.

I'm not trying to lead you on. I just came home from work last night and decided to unwind by interpreting your name in a lurid and over-the-top way.

Love the name, btw.

So... over-the-top.

Anyway, I'm really with the others here who are saying you can't expect to get free design... or at least one that will suit your needs and pixel dimensions. Find a designer and pay them a few bucks. You'll get a better product, and they'll actually have to pay heed to your requirements and desires.

Would've been nicer if you had included "please" and "thanks" in there somewhere.

Just saying.

That is really cool, finally got a logo done and for free!

Here it is:

So you posted a request on this thread, then didn't bother responding for a while, went outside and got someone to make you a logo, and now you're done.

Very good.

Thans for your help, I was really trying to find someone to make a logo on the forum, but everyone posted links to places to hire people. I ended up going to oDesk and finding someone who did it for free. I didn't feel the need to reply because I wanted to find an actual person not an agency.

I don't like the unnecessary border around the words. Just adds clutter and it's too close to the letters. And, I probably would have used an apple instead of a sphere. But that's just me.

P.S. Everyone, I just looked at this guy's prior posts and found out he's 12. Changes things a little.

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 3_0 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/528.18 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/4.0 Mobile/7A341 Safari/528.16)

Good lord that is an abomination. Just goes to show you get what you pay for.
