You cannot downgrade. The jailbreak is not an option. The best bet is as mentioned to have maybe the leader of your 12 step group setup the password so you cannot reset the phone and earnestly work on self control.

The phone is just one of many tools one could abuse. Concentrate on your therapy and practicing self control as a priority.

The sponsor needs to keep the password to both the gmail account and the Apple ID. Otherwise OP could just reset the Apple ID password.

They can be the same password for the gmail account and the Apple ID but they both have to be kept from OP.

No jailbreak for that.

Just make sure your sponsor logs into the gmail account every few months. You could set a reminder for once a month and text him to remember to log in. Google will shut down a dormant gmail account.

No, you need the Apple ID password to sign out of iCloud on the phone. And if you reset the device without signing out of iCloud, you can't reactivate the phone without the Apple ID password.

[doublepost=1474678523][/doublepost]Apple is no longer signing 9.3.3, which was the last jailbreakable iOS.

I like your idea and I cannot wait to get it set up! Boy wouldnt it be nice it they just had an app blocker that would block the settings menu.

It still wouldn't work though b/c you could put the phone in DFU mode and reset it via iTunes.

If the phone is iCloud locked to an Apple ID that is a gmail account and if you don't have the password to either the Apple ID or the gmail account, you can reset the phone but the phone will be iCloud locked to that Apple ID and you need the Apple ID password to reactive the phone. The only way to get around that is to reset the Apple ID password to a new password. However, if you don't have the password to the gmail account, you can't reset it by email.

Additionally, your sponsor should set up security questions for the Apple ID that only he/she knows the answers to.

Also, you need to make sure that you don't have 2 step or 2 factor authentication set up for the Apple ID, neither of which are set up by default so as long as your sponsor doesn't set those up, then they won't be set up for the Apple ID.

Hey guys,

I have been down this road many times before and have tried so many ways to block porn from my iphone so that there is noway I can get onto it. I have a porn blocking browser app called covenant eyes and it is a great browser, that coupled with restrictions that keep me from deleting or adding apps, blocking safari and all apps that have holes that allow me access to the web. This was helping me out a bit and then I ran into a HUGE LOOPHOLE!!! I can simply reset my iphone and happily watch porn for as long as I want. I need to block the settings app itself so that I can not simply reset my phone. I need some serious suggestions and help please no joshing around.

Thanks!
There is a website that has accountability. Like if you go on porn your accountability parter can see every site you went to , and you can see what he went to. you just have to register each device

I just tested it on my iPhone to make sure it is correct. When you add an Apple ID to your phone, iCloud and Find My iPhone are automatically enabled. If you try to reset your phone, it asks for your Apple ID password. If you try to sign out of iCloud, it asks you to sign out of Find My iPhone, which requires the Apple ID password.

So without the Apple ID password, you can't even do a factory reset from the Settings menu.

By chance is your work running any type of MDM solution on the phone? They may be able to apply filters and lock out other things...

Uh, no, your phone can't control your habits buddy. If you want to stop watching porn then force yourself to do that yourself. And I don't really understand the whole "sex addiction" thing. Are you so much addicted to porn that you can't live without it? If so then you may have some problems buddy.
If you don't understand it then You really should refrain from commenting on it. Also, he's obviously aware of his issues you dingus, hence this topic.

When you are done with this set up, would you mind posting step-by-step instructions on how to do this. I generally follow the advice you've gotten to lock down your phone, but I bet many people would benefit from having a straightforward guide (regardless of their level of iOS savvy) on how to do this.

I've been looking at this for my kids. And I'd be willing to have my phone locked down in the same fashion to show my boys I'm willing to lead by example.

Thanks in advance, and my God deliver you from this. It took tremendous courage to post what you did.

Webwbr for you it should be easy. Settings-- general -- restrictions -- enable restrictions and then follow the instructions / personalize the settings.

Yea I am seeking help, I am in a 12 step program for sex addiction, porn is but a part of my addiction. I have received this phone as my work phone which I am supposed to keep on me. I am open to jailbreaking as long as there is a clear way to make this phone protected.
I don't think it would be wise nor would you be allowed to jailbreak a work phone.

negative, we are small time, my boss barely knows how to use a computer lol.
I'm that case, why are they mandating the use of an iPhone? Surely you could just put the iPhone's sim into a non-smartphone, then the temptation's removed completely and you have a work phone with a better battery life!

Unless you're required to run specific apps to complete your job or have access to email 24/7 then I never understood why anyone would have anything but the most basic phone for work?!

Jailbreaking would be possible on this phone if I went in and downgraded the IOS. My companies policies are not going to be an issue. I am willing to take my chances, I am just looking for serious answers, for those of you who are providing truly pertinent answers, I am truly thankful.
Can your employer monitor web usage? If so, porn is probably a disciplinible offence. That may be incentive enough?
