I'm the same way. But it's cheap, unlimited streaming is $8.99 a month

You can get Netflix streaming for $5/month (You can pay $1 more / month to get blu-rays). I'm on the 2-movies-per-month plan. It's all I have time to watch anyway (if I'm lucky!). It comes with unlimited streaming.

Netflix rocks!

When this came out a few months back for XBOX 360 I couldn't believe how much we wound up using and liking this. $8.99 unlimited streaming (and DVD's shipped to your door).

We have watched Lost, Dexter, and Tudors...the kids have gobs and gobs of shows they watch. I was very happy with it on the xbox. Survivorman, Dirty Jobs, No Reservation, Man vs. Food, etc....

When it was posted this was being released for iPad....I thought it was too good to be true. I downloaded it and now I am just waiting for my iPad to show up. Sa-weet!!
:D

I just downloaded the app for my account and my hubby's account, just in case they pull it from the app store. :D

if i some how manage to create a netflix account as it's USA only.. do you reckon if i singed in to my iPad with the app will it work with my UK wifi.. or will it block the content because i'm not in the USA? i want this app soooo bad!

Sorry, no it won't work, Netflix geolocates based on your IP address.

I have VPNs into Canada and the UK. Sometimes I forget I'm connected and I will go to Netflix and it says:

Watching Instantly is Not Available Outside the US

Our systems indicate that the computer you are using is not located within the 50 United States or District of Columbia. Due to studio licensing reasons, movies are available to watch instantly only on computers in those locations.

ahh man that sucks ass.. here's hoping a workaround becomes available when a jailbreak is out!

I just realized that if this does work over 3g, the kids could technically use it to watch about anything on the DVD player in the van. No more complaining they forgot a disk.....

Would rock if I could get discovery streaming to work too.

This will be great, especially if it works over 3G... but wouldn't that bring AT&T down????

That was my first thought. The Netflix streaming bandwidth isn't insignificant. If 50,000 iPads start streaming over 3G AT&T is going to take a big hit. Can you imagine how quickly people with the 250MB plan would deplete their allocation.

Very good point. And SJ probably knew that, that is why he allowed it.

Apple sells more hardware, which results in Apple making money from the other apps people download. So it is a win-win for Apple. You gotta love capitalism.

Wooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!

I use it all the time with my PS3. This will be one of my top apps now. Thank you.

Win-Win for Apple and Netflix.

Got a trial membership a few hours ago and man Netflix is about as cool a service as I've seen lately. I never have really paid a lot of attention to it because I don't watch a lot of DVD's. But I signed up and it has a terrific selection of old TV shows as well as movies. I told my wife what we'd do is order via mail movies she likes and I'd use it to watch TV shows on my iPad. I just finished a Fawlty Towers and forgot how great this show was. I can't wait till tomorrow to see how good it works on my iPad.

Netflix is much better than it used to be. When it first started, it was horrible (I used it back then). Mostly b-movie junk. It's improved a 1000 fold since then.

And the streaming has quite a few HD movies now. For $8.99 for unlimited, sweet deal.

They have been adding content too.

First 7 seasons of 24 showed up, all of Bones and some other stuff, just added in last 24-48 hours.

We have a 1-out plan which gets you unlimited streaming. We often save the real disc for things we want to see on BluRay. If not that, things I might want to watch on an electronic device when streaming isn't going to work due to lack of connectivity.

I restarted my subscription about 3 months ago and I have been very happy with the streaming reliability and quality with the exception on Silverlight having issues with higher end Nvidia cards. That can get pretty distracting in fast moving scenes.

They are getting so much better. I just installed it on my ipad and signed up (for those with American Airlines AADvantage, sign up through the link on the AA site to get 1500 miles!!)...

It works flawlessly, and I watched Food Inc last night... Makes me not want to eat any more. LOL

They have a lot of great content... All of 24... Law & Order... Desperate Housewives... And even some newer movies like Julie & Julia... Way to go Netflix!!!

Anyone else find Netflix choppy when scrolling

Netflix is just fantastic on the ipad however I noticed it being kinda choppy when scrolling up and down through the movies or tv show collections. Anyone else notice that

streaming question

I do not have an ipad yet, and I have the netflix option on my 360 and PS3 (I mainly use my 360 and I lack the GB's to use it). I never tried streaming movie, so to those who have been streaming on their ipad how does it work? Do you log in from your computer and synch to your ipad or just use the wifi from the iPad for the streaming?
Also
-How many GB's does it take up
-can you rent one movie after another, such as more then one movie for per day?
- How long does the stream take to get up and running?

Thanks, I have been waiting to jump on this for awhile now, and I used to use Netflix all the time via DVD. Movies are a huge sales point for me with the iPad, so I am curious how it all works.
