Wasting your time? Who the heck are you for me to be wasting your time? I don't have to tell you anything except what I have already indicated.

Go to https://forums.macrumors.com/posts/8733702/ to see that even when I bought it in October I refused to open it.

Guess what? I never did open my purchase and for the reasons I already indicated.

I just quickly read through that old posting...and I gotta say it doesn't make too much sense to me.

Why didn't you open it and use it to see if there were any issues and just return it if there were?

What was the benefit if keeping in the box for a year? Just curious to the reasoning here not trying to flame you.

Lets just end it.

It's your fault if anything is wrong, you didn't open it, apple will not replace it as they're under no obligation to do so. They will not refund you. What you're asking for is just ridiculous.

Open the box, enjoy the computer.

No benefit at all. I have an iMac 2008 and was trying to sell it to no avail and life just got busy. I had it in my storage but recently I thought about opening but then thought about the possibility of exchanging it since I noticed that it has not even been a year since I bought it.

Lets just end it.

Do you even read posts?

Don't worry this thread will die soon, the kids will not have so much free time when school starts!

It may sound crazy to you but he's probably telling the truth. My neighbor does things like that and I end up buying what he doesn't use at 40 to 60% off.
May be you could sell it on craigslist at a few hundred dollars off. Good luck with that one.

Hey, you're doing a great job of back seat moderating! /clap

Really? Have you owned one of the new imacs? I exchanged mine 3 times without an issue.

Yes, I do have one of the previous gen 27" iMac as a matter of fact. I have the i7 Quad Core. Also you're not making sense, we're not talking about Apple not exchanging computers in general, we're talking about the OP returning a computer from a year back that he never opened. Are you saying that each one of your exchanges were brand new iMacs, unopened that you had for a year and Apple just cheerfully exchanged them for the latest model no questions asked? Hmm.

I know that, did you see the back seat part of my post?

I hear you bro. Don't bother with him, he goes round trying to have the last word on threads whilst thinking people give a crap. You're right about the backseat mod thing; his schtick is apparently to pontificate about something before ending the arguement with a feeble little "/threadclosed" then sitting back powerlessly as the thread continues unabated.

There's this...

Just freaking buy the damn thing now.

Oh, and stop wasting our time by making the same threads over and over, you're just here to piss us off.

As I explained in previous posts, he can unbox the computer, note that it has a yellow tinge, dead or stuck pixels, banding, backlight bleeding, or some other flaw and take the computer back to Apple. They will exchange it on the spot.

My exchanges were a last generation i5 27" once for 20+ stuck pixels, once for black banding, once for yellow tinge, and finally a return for my money back over the course of 4-5 months after I was completely sick of the issues.

You're stating stuff as fact and that's just plain wrong. There's no guarantee the OP will get the same treatment as you got. And as I stated previously all Apple has to do is replace the screen, it's still covered under warranty and they are no way obligated to just replace the whole computer. There's also no guarantee his iMac would have a yellow tinge or be yellow enough to warrant even a screen replacement.

I think you will find that -most- people with screen issues on the iMac are getting new systems instead of the screen being replaced, but hey, maybe something has changed lately. I never said that there was a guarantee that his screen has issues, but if it does then it's an easy way to get what he wants.

Either way, I will now bow out.

...what no pics of the unopened, still wrapped iMac:p?...

It would be hilarious if OP actually did get a new Mac but he decided not to open it until next year. Them he would post the same question but yet never really explain why he impulsively buys but never uses for fear of feeding forum trolls.
