Just noticed dead pixels on my brand new 12.9. Anyone else or am I in the minority here?

I’m just annoyed because local stores don’t have stock to replace with. So I guess my only option is to return and wait for more stock at some point and repurchase.

I think he means to go through the genius bar at the store. You'll need to make an appointment first.
Oh yeah I can do that. But is it even worth it to do a genius appt when it was just bought? Wouldn’t they just tell me to return it since it’s in the 14 days?

Sometimes it's dust. Exposing it under different background colors might give you a better idea. Since it's near the edge you can try tapping against your thigh to dislodge it into the bezel while holding pressure on the screen on the other one so it doesn't move closer to screen center. If it doesn't dislodge then replace it.

I've never done this, but I've read they have new replacement units and not refurb units. However, I don't know what happens if you decide to return it after this exchange. Cleanest way is to return and buy another unit, but that's not an option right now with the inventory situation so it's up to you.

Go straight through Apple Support then, they'll have a dedicated lot of replacement devices on hand.
Unfortunately, I can report this wasn't the case for me. Same problem, dead pixels on a 12.9" 5th Gen.

I went through Apple Support, booked a Genius Bar appointment, I posted a thread before I saw this, my entire area has zero stock for replacement units. The guy even told me if he replaced it, I would only get a 3 month warranty with the new one.

I returned it, now I have to search to find one.

Ok that’s good to know I won’t waste my time with that. I guess I could at least hold onto it for a bit and mess around with it being that I have 14 days and I’ll continue searching for stock locally so I can exchange it.

I would still try, I would hate my location and circumstance drives your decision. I would check apple store stock, if they have one to sell, they should have one to swap. I would still try, maybe even call the store.

if it bothers you, which i'm guessing it does, then just get apple to replace it. dead pixels is a common issue. no point coming on the internet asking about it. it's not gonna magically fix itself. phone apple up or book a genius appointment. you'll have a replacement ipad in no time.

Do you have AppleCare+ ? If so, demand an Express Replacement, if your store doesn’t have stock.
If you have AC+ does this cover unlimited express replacements?

Do you also have an excess to pay or is just a hold on the amount until they receive your old unit back?

I don't think there's a limit to ERS.

No extra payment, just a hold for the full price of the unit until they receive your old defective device.
