Had this happen on my 2018 iPad Pro 12.9, Apple store replaced it under warranty after checking in store, no hassle at all. I don’t have Apple Care.

If you have AC+ does this cover unlimited express replacements?

Do you also have an excess to pay or is just a hold on the amount until they receive your old unit back?

No limit, and just a hold. I replaced my 10.5” 4 times in the space of a month due to white spot and uneven panel. Ensure you ask for an express replacement, it’s rarely offered in my experience.

I just returned my second iPad 12.9 2021 after having dust in the glass (seen with the screen off as well) on my first two. They are just doing a service exchange for this 3rd one (which should be basically new Since the device just came out) that’s to be coming since all local stores here in so cal are sold out of 12.9 iPads for the time being.

Unfortunately, I can report this wasn't the case for me. Same problem, dead pixels on a 12.9" 5th Gen.

I went through Apple Support, booked a Genius Bar appointment, I posted a thread before I saw this, my entire area has zero stock for replacement units. The guy even told me if he replaced it, I would only get a 3 month warranty with the new one.

I returned it, now I have to search to find one.
I believe the replacements via warranty exchange have the Same warranty as what is left on your original device. I have done service replacements before, and the warranty period from your original device (with or without AppleCare+) carried over as is With apple store warranty replacements. THe 90d warranty quoted to you is likely for devices replaced where the original warranty was less than 90d left or no warranty left.

Okay, I am not surprised, I was very disappointed by the service I received, the guy helping me was of no help at all.

WTF logic is that! The length of warranty remains the same based on the original purchase. Which company will REDUCE your warranty because they sold you a faulty product?!

I had my 2018 iPad Pro replaced under the 1 year warranty at Apple store, I was told the replacement will be covered until my original iPad warranty runs out. So if there is fault between then, I can get it fixed or replaced again.

Just noticed dead pixels on my brand new 12.9. Anyone else or am I in the minority here?
Yep, I had this on the 2021 12.9” - and not only once, but twice

First time, it was one extremely noticeable dead pixel bang in the centre of the screen

Second time, following an exchange of the first, was a unit that had three dead pixels: one on the mid-left side of the screen; two on the upper-right

A third unit was offered to me, but on back order - taking some 4 to 6 weeks to arrive. Scunnered, I opted for a refund

I’m going to give it a couple of weeks then try again. The shops seem to be getting a fairly regular restock - of a unit or two at a time! - despite the waiting times shown online. (At least that’s the case here in Central Scotland.) At this stage, it really does feel like a lottery. I went for the 12.9” 1TB, Cellular - so I expect a decent screen for my £1,800!

Wish me luck for my next buy, please! I’m exhausted by the thought of it, but really can’t do without an iPad. It’s the one piece of tech. that I use more than anything (save my phone)

Anyway, that’s my tuppence worth…

I bought an iPad Air 4 a few months ago and it had two dead pixels. Got on the blower to Apple and they exchanged it no questions asked with a brand new retail unit. My new one is fine, touch wood.
