Loads of stuff changed.
The soundcards changed with the latest MacBook Pros, the iSights changed, the speakers changed, the keyboards changed, the sleep light changed etc... loads of undocumented stuff.
It was all for the better though. I compared my 1.83 GHz original MBP to the 2.2 Apple replaced it with before I sent the original back. The newer ones are 'all round' better, not just in terms of performance. Build quality took a step up, as did things like the sound from the built in speakers...

I think you have the wrong idea. The light is still in the same place, but it is under the surface of the aluminum, rather than on the surface, meaning that there is no longer a little black dot when the light is off.I would like it on the side rather than the bottom
