What are the chances? I plan on getting one soon, and with the September keynote only a few weeks away, I'm debating on whether or not I should wait. I would really like to get one now...

Did I miss something? A September Keynote? When & where?

You didn't miss anything.

There is no official indication of a September event or keynote at the present time.

Even so, I don't think the AppleTV will see a major revamp.

The AppleTV already has far more capability than its software uses. At least until the end of the year, all the major update will be free software updates to better take advantages of the existing AppleTV.

And I did it! Picked one up at Best Buy tonight, got everything set up in under 20 minutes and love it! :)

1080p, app store, iphone motion gyroscope gaming (think Wii), Blu-ray? Yeah, I'd say the chances of a new Apple TV are pretty gosh darn good.

How do you play 1080p movies on your ATV? Far more capability than its software uses? Not really.

I agree that it is good and far better than most of its competitors but the lack of support for high quality movies is unfortunately a BIG disadvantage - at least for me.

Also just got few days ago an ATV2 to mainly play with iOS5 beta and iPad AirPlay. And even beside that it's a cute little piece of "hobby" from Apple. Just wish they would support Hulu out of the box.

Undoubtedly. However the release date is the issue, and the dearth of rumors makes one this year look unlikely. We can always hope for a surprise, though!

If I was unclear, I strongly expect these changes to make their way into the Apple TV 3 this fall. Thank you.

I doubt we'll be seeing 1080p on anything other than BlueRay players for a while. There hasn't even been enough clamor to get ABC and Fox to move from 720p.

I agree. Plus the costs of upgrading all the local stations from broadcasting in 720p to 1080p is probably going to keep this from happening for quite some time. Then there is the bandwidth required to stream true 1080p material.

I'd be happy to just get a menu revamp so All my TV Seasons can be in one menu and not multiples.

i'm thinking of getting an apple tv this week, do you think it's a wise decision. the whole schedule is messed up, the keynote could be in a week or a month so i don't know what to do, anyone think a new one will be released soon?
