That's not even technologically possible.

Once AT&T and Verizon are both LTE it would be theoretically possible for an AT&T phone to roam on Verizon and vice versa. That, of course, means Verizon and AT&T have to have a roaming agreement, and who knows if/when that'll happen. I think once Verizon is on a global standard technology, you'll see them negotiating roaming agreements with other carriers around the world to allow people who travel to the US to use Verizon's towers before the negotiate anything with AT&T.

Hell, international roaming is the main reason Verizon is switching to LTE. Vodafone owns a huge chunk of Verizon Wireless and they don't like the fact that Vodafone customers who travel to the US have to roam on their competitors' networks, they want that roaming revenue for themselves. They couldn't care less if AT&T customers can roam onto Verizon or not, that's not where the money is made.

I think the real question is, will we be charged MORE to use data if they actually get these new speeds up and running?

These are my speeds..

You know your speeds could be greater if you choose to use a server closer to your location for the test.

Actually you are incorrect.. not in my case.. I found it to be slightly slower using closer servers(Atlanta for Wifi is nice). As far 3G it picked up New Orleans as the closest spot.. don't know why.

I thought I was the only one. If I choose New Orleans servers I get slower 3G. I need to go with Wichita. However, last time I did the test New Orleans came up faster.

I don't know why it's this way with 3G.
