Wow, it's almost as if they all sat in the board room and said "What is the absolute most ugliest design we can possibly use?" - then someone showed a mock-up of this ...and then they're like "proceed!" - this is one very ugly machine. I don't know how they managed to do that...

it would look better if it didn't have the angular back.

screen looks nice, I like that it doesn't need a powerbrick and the specs are good.

In typical Dell fashion, they try to cram everything they can in the machine or in the box to make it appealing,
I've never found a Dell desktop that had hardware that looked like it was crammed in.

I could have done without the wireless keyboard and mouse unless I can recharge them through USB, if not, then I would still have to go out and buy a 3rd party system.
What's up with Vista machines and the obsession with tacky wireless keyboards?

Pretty much any PC maker loads on the hardware. Not the internal stuff but the card readers, five USB ports, Express Card slots, etc. Or it could just be the way they lay it all out.

I don't know about the Vista machines obsession with wireless keyboards and why they make them standard. It seems like a nice idea but if you can't charge the device I think it's more of a hassle. Now you have to go out and buy more batteries or a battery charger and keep replacing them, especially if you use the computer a lot. I wish Apple would do this to their wireless mouse and keyboard too, putting in a way to charge the batteries through USB so you can use it while charging that is.

It sounds like you meant to say "loads on the options/features" rather then cramped internals.

About the only word that comes to mind is "blah."

I'm not sure if PC users are gonna buy this or not. All the PC users I know are usually gamers that build their own systems.

From what I've seen, most PC users around here just buy the cheapest piece of crap they can find. Definitely not something on the "high-end."

And yeah, this thing is ugly.

It looks CHEAP and just look at that giant remote. It's like most PC manufacturers have no clue about elegance and simplicity of design.

One more thing - dpaanlka, your sig ALWAYS freaks me out and makes me think I have a dead pixel. :D

Hmm. I actually don't mind it too much. I rather much more like Apple's clean-cut design, but who doesn't? But for a PC manufacturer not exactly known for their stellar aesthetics, its not half bad. I could at least stomach having it on my desk.

Its a weak attempt at iMac. Looks like Dell hired the guy who use to design Sony's playstations or something. Tacked a bunch of s... together and presto this awkward looking thing. What crappy styling. Gateways One looks much better to me but its tech specs suck and its still windblows. iMac wins.:apple:

Is it just me, or does anyone else notice the stupidity of putting all those ports in the centre of the rear of the unit? Good luck plugging in your usb flash drive -- you'll have to swivel the unit sideways every time you want to access those ports.

At least with the new iMacs the designers placed the oft-used ports (audio, usb, firewire) close to the edge of the rear of the unit.

I give another fugly vote. And one for that keyboard, too.

I give it my usual PC 6.5 out of 10. Great design with a real gamer feel, but I don't think gamers want all-in-one machines with laptop processors and external parts. I would stick to towers, and put this machine in the consumer market and the business market so that PC vendors can actually go toe-to-toe with the iMac.

It may have a gamer feel aesthetically but try Bioshock on that 2400XT inside the Dell and most gamers will throw that thing out the Window.

Actually I have to disagree with your statement. Lots of gamers like to game on notebooks so AIO's are perfect for design and form factor but the iMac beats the new Sony, Gateway and the Dell when it comes to gaming due to the included 2600XT.

Apple must be quaking in its boots :D

If someone could just make a SIMPLE looking machine, they'd be onto a winner, that thing has so many edges, lines etc, it looks cluttered.

a bit snobby are we?

Seems like we can all agree that it's no iMac, but I don't understand why people think it's downright ugly. It seems that people are of the opinion that if it doesn't have a nice little :apple: it's just no good.

I think that the design isn't bad at all, and I feel the same about the newest Gateway (even though I would absolutely never buy a Gateway of any kind), and Sony.

I think my mac is great, but I also feel that credit should be given where do. And these all-in-ones look nice.

Now be nice, I'm just voicing my opinion.

After reading most comments I went looking thinking it was gonna be gastly, but it's not that bad. I don't think having an Apple logo would make it better though.

It's got a very normal LCD design really, and looks like a big heavy base plate is attached to it for some reason. Not a particularly good look.

I dislike how it's not even trying to be aesthetically pleasing around the back, with the back looking like the roof of a house, two slanted pieces coming together. It's an awful red too.

And finally, what's with all the ports being all together in one tiny spot in the middle, seems quite stupid.

The keyboard also isn't very stylish, quite square looking.

The only all-in-one PC I have seen that looks kinda sleek is the Sony VAIO LT PC/TV

The only issue is that it doesn't run Mac OS X. A deal breaker for me ;)

Apple needs to move a little quicker now. Most PCs ship with at least 2G (probably because if Vista).

One of the reasons I think integrated graphics are making a bigger showing in the home is that people are moving to consoles more for gaming now that they can play online. Also PC games are making great strides in the lowend, witness WoW on MacBooks.

I still want to run my PC/Mac games though. I have a huge library of computer games Vs. console ones.

I can even run the majority of them without having to search for a long lost piece of hardware, e.g. a console.

I'm rather annoyed when I get the Mac + XBox 360 suggestion.

I don't doubt there is a place for the PC gaming machine but I think the market is not what it once was. I also think (hope) that the game experience is now moving beyond the eye-candy stage and into more game play and player interaction which can be accomplished on a console as well. Perhaps people also want to make more use out of their new and expensive HDTVs and the console also fills that gap. Certain games, however, are better played on a PC. I also don't think this Dell is aimed at a serious gaming crowd, given the graphics card choice.

I've always said it - next to Apple, Sony has some of the best designs when it comes to computers. That Sony is BADASS looking. I love the design. Nice and sleek, unlike the Dell, which looks really cheap.
