Ill be enabling this Biden's latest YouTube ad sounded like he was struggling to breath and speak its amazing it wasn't rejected once reviewed and Trumps always feel like im going into a WWE match.

Well, the good thing is, this 2020 election season hasn't been has bad as 2016. And, that's because of Covic-19 and the protests. Let's all hang in there, we have less than 5 months until this is over with.

138 days left.

Sounds like just another way allow echo chambers to become more and more of a problem. "I'm going to turn off political ads, instead, I'll believe all of the tripe that my friends claim from their own skewed point of view!".

Facebook should focus more attention on preventing misinformation from circulating in the first place, or if it does get circulated, make efforts to notify people retroactively it was incorrect. It's all very well marking a post / Tweet as "incorrect" a few hours after it was posted, and after millions have seen it - they'll not go back and see it was flagged.

So your theory is that political ads correct any false claims that your friends might make?

Okay.

Negative ads about Trump is about all he has. The Democrat election is about getting rid of Trump, not grand new visions of what our country could be. It's puzzling to me that the DNC sunk the campaigns of so many candidates that appeared to have vision and handed the party to a white guy with dementia.

As a pretty right leaning conservative I agree I am not a big Trump supporter but give me something to work with. I could have seen myself voting for Yang and a few of the other moderates now I just feel like not voting at all or possibly for Trump if Biden's VP pick is a disaster.

I wish people would stop saying this. Why you would want Facebook policing the internet for misinformation is beyond me. How many times do they need to be exposed for manipulating your feed and selling your data before you clue in?

WHo/what is next? Id like all posts with vegetables banned as well as people with red hair and freckles. And posts/pictures about reptiles and dogs... and the color red and ...

This is a good thing, I want an escape from politics sometimes.
Suggest taking a quick glance at the US Constitution sometime. There's some pretty useful info in there.

Political ads can't be made illegal. That freedom of speech thing can be annoying sometimes.
Wait never mind, I deleted my original post. Responded to yours without seeing the context of the post you replied to.

I agree.

Gotta cover up those Trump ads. Biden needs all the help he can get.
I mean it would block Biden ads too... and take a look at the polls lately in states like Michigan, Florida, Arizona, Georgia, etc

Seems like this also helps candidates not waste money. Alternatively - Is there a button to generate 1 million clicks on a political ad to drain their resources.

Pointless.

First, I don't use F*c*book. That's a big one, because F*c*book is garbage.

Second, even if I did use F*c*book, I wouldn't see ANY ads, because I block ads. Firefox + Ublock + NoScript tends to fix the ad problem.

If you're seeing political ads on F*c*book, there are better solutions than telling F*c*book to turn off political ads.

I prefer to use that other option "Turn Facebook off" or even better "Never turn Facebook on to begin with".

This particular option is of course worthless, it is just a not my responsibility get out of jail card.

And you think someone who turns off political ads will be swayed away from their friends by a political ad on Facebook? I don’t think this risks making the echo chamber bigger. I applaud the move even if I am a bit skeptical.

now the adds will become more “round the back door”. Like, An image of a Guy with 500 guns and asking “Is this OK?” Arguably not political but certainly the doorway to politics.

I think it benefit republicans more than Democrats, at least for now. Most of the time information/propaganda affects more to whom is in Power. That’s why after getting elected you need to either call everything against you as fake or control media (like in communist countries). I’m not an expert in politics, but I do know there’s few theories about this.. on the other hand If Trump approval rates are as low as they said (something that I believe is not true) then it might benefit Biden (he has nothing to prove, but Trump has a lot to explain - an needs the media/ads). Just a different idea from what you said.

I wish we could turn off ALL political BS on Facebook. It would be great to not see anything that mentions Trump, Biden, Democrats, Republicans. I seek out that information from news outlets (Apple News / Google News with subscriptions to WashPo and NYT) when I want it. I go to Facebook to connect with family and see what my nephews are up to.

This is conveniently done just in time to prevent as many people as possible from seeing Trump’s campaign running a barrage of anti Biden ads using their insane cash pile. This is a direct move to protect Biden. I bet a coke these ads won’t be blocked in future elections.
