Saw the commercial during The Sarah Silverman Program on Comedy Central - hilarious. Best one yet.

I think Apple should advertise it's OS instead of attacking windows. I really love these adds, but the averge PC user don't even understand them. Worst, Apple had a long lead before Vista came up to show people what OSX is all about. But now, I think, pc user will tend to upgrade instead of looking for alternatives.

This is definitely my favorite (and possibly the most accurate) of these ads so far. I laughed out loud.

Great timing, minimal Justin.

This is the first one of these ads I have actually liked. It's funny instead of arrogant and goes after windows instead of the hardware and the users.

You mean...

Is it just me, or is Bill Gates really inarticulate and clumsy in his speech? His sentences are the linguistic equivalents of zombies: mutilated, semi-coherent fragments stuck together with pieces missing that the editor had to insert with brackets afterwards.

Not "zombies"...you mean zunebies!

I really like when Apple points to its strengths but let's not poke the evil malware writers and taunt them.

In politics, some of those Apple Ads would be considered "Negative campaigning"!

IMO, Apple need to compare OSX against something. They could advertise the benefits of OSX but it would fall on the deaf ears of windows users - they need to compare against something familar. But I agree with you too - Apple never highlight the features of OSX - they've only mentioned the software you can run of it ( but thinking about it - the available software is important, if more so, than the actual OS ).

Of course, getting OSX in the first place is expensive in itself. Thats a huge barrier for the average consumer. Spending an equilivient or more of a months rent or mortgage on a Mac to run a new OS ( Yes, there is the Mini too ).

"I don't think the over 90 percent of the [population] who use Windows PCs think of themselves as dullards, or the kind of klutzes that somebody is trying to say they are."

of course, the two main characters in the commercials are merely characterizations of the machines/oses themselves, not the users. the original concept was lost on bill, i'm afraid. :apple:

I agree with those of you who say that Apple shouldn't make fun of Windows. While the ads are funny, they kind of make Apple look bad. Kind of like that one Apple commercial years ago where a Mac user is in the middle seat of an airplane aisle and spreads his stuff all over the people around him. It also reminds me of a line in the movie "Drumline" where Nick Cannon showed up the section leader on the drums and Orlando Jones, as the band director, said "Instead of making [the section leader] look bad, you made yourself look like a jackass." I just hope Apple doesn't do anything that makes it look like a jackass.

I just saw this one on digg.com, and I just gotta say it's the best yet. It made me laugh out loud. Unfortunately, it might get lost on the PeeCee side unless they've upgraded to Vista.

I wish all commercials were that funny.

The commercial was funny, but Apple really gets nasty in the text below the ads concerning Vista.

"As Vista tries to get closer to OSX, emphasis on tries..."

SHA-ZAM!

Man, what a difference 10 years makes. 10 years ago IE was invading and Bill Gates was at MacWorld. Although, I bet 2008 will be the last Office for Mac, MS won't take this sitting down and we already know Bill's peeved.

This one hits it dead on the head. Even the PC apologists can't deny that Vista has become even MORE annoying than XP ever was. Just yesterday, we had several people all coming together complaining about this EXACT issue. And that was outside of the Mac vs. PC thing altogether.

For those of you who haven't had the pleasure of working with Vista, if you go to certain control panels and attempt to make a change, Vista alertly pops up a message box informing you that a program wishes to make a change to your control panels, and is this OK? Everyone I've seen that hits this sits in stunned silence for a good 3 count, and generally talks back to their computer saying something like: "You mean someone OTHER than me is changing them? No? OMG! You must be kidding!".

Our question was: if double-clicking a program to launch it is not enough information for windows to determine that you actually want to run a program, what is enough information? Is asking only once again really enough? Are you sure, are you really sure? How about now?

All in the name of security.

Honestly, this ad is great, but it still reads like (rich urban boy)David Vs. (working-middle class man)Goliath. I think in the long run this is a marketing mistake. There are better ways to get the obvious point across.

The first conversations are quite tough for non-native English speakers like me. Is there somebody who can write those for me please?

I have to say this is the first genuinely funny ad in the series. Although it isn't unique to Vista - it's the pitfall of running a firewall. I have the same experience with NetBarrier, but I put up with it because I want to know when an app is trying to phone home.

I'm sure making a good, non-annoying firewall is hard, but Apple manages. I've never been hassled by the OS X firewall, nor have I had to fiddle with it ever.

I disagree, I think Office for Mac is a nice money maker for Micro$oft. Since the Zune and xbox are losing money I cnt see the shareholding looking too fondly at them axing something that is profitable for them. I could be wrong though.

Haha! What a way to start off the day, I just saw it on Apple's Switch website. Not the best one IMO, but its pretty sweet. Still chuckling :D
