Okey, I guess the OSX version is somewhat bricked as the SC2-website instructs people with the new i5/i7 iMacs to use settings where some settings are even on medium.

Apple has a long way to go before you will ever get top performance in games compared to the same game running in windows. It's unfortunate.

At long last...

Finally. An iMac with no yellow screen, no buzzing sound and no rumbling hard drive. You're either very lucky or have a high tolerance threshold. Whichever it is - congratulations! May this machine last you a long time...

Yeah! TF2 is by far, my favourite game right now.

Hope to play maxed out and Full HD.

Hmm, there seems to be problems with my copy of TF2 :( I can do half life 2 instead... :(

Meanwhile, I am installing Fallout 3 as of now, and Modern Warfare 2 is copying. I'll keep you posted =)

Hello ,
You iMac has got i3 or i5 ?
And you can try Team Fortress 2 ?
and for showing framerates , try Fraps

I used the timedemo function to record and playback a short game session in TF2. My settings:
Full Screen, 16:10 Aspect Ratio, 2560x1400
Model Detail = High, Texture Detail = High, Shader Detail = High
Water Detail = Reflect All, Shadow Detail = High, Color Correction = Enabled
Antialiasing Mode = 4X MSAA, Filtering Mode = Anisotropic 4X, Vertical Sync = Disabled
Motion Blur = Enabled

On the 2010 iMac Core i7 27" = 44 fps

On the 2009 iMac Core i7 27" (with 2009 ATI drivers) = 29 fps

Before I say anything, I'm not an "Apple hater". I own multiple Apple products and am going to pick up a new Mac Pro when they are released.

With that said, I can't believe people are excited when their iMacs show up without yellow screens, dead pixels or loud hard drives. These problems should not be happening on ANY of the computers they send out. I think it's absolutely ridiculous that Apple hasn't taken more heat over these issues.

If you ask me, if I pay $1,500+ for a computer, it should show up in pristine condition.

And yet you bought iPhone 4. :D I guess this is why Apple gets away with it because it is more important to buy new Apple products for the consumer than to buy quality products. For example, people could easily buy a cellular from another brand. But no... They need Apple. Even though they have iPhone 3GS they still feel the need to buy iPhone 4 with all its problems.

I mean no other people than Apple people have signatures like "I own 1 Mac Pro, 1 Macbook Pro, 1 Macbook Air, 1 iPad, 1 iPod Touch, 1 iPhone 3GS, 1 iPhone 4 etc." This tells me that some people stop buying what they need and simply collect Apple products like stamps.

I'm amazed this has kicked up less of a media storm than the iPhone antenna (which was in effect a design trade off). But no way can a yellow screen or buzzing sound be anything other than a manufacturing issue. The fact that this refresh is still churning out defective screens is quite an indictment of Apple's quality control. I say this more out of disappointment than any desire to have a pop at Apple. Oddly, none of the early reviews of the new iMacs have pointed this up as an issue they've encountered on their review units - which you'd expect if this was a widespread problem. Maybe it's just that some people are unlucky and those are the ones that find their way to these forums...

Half life 2 works, full settings no lag.
FallOut 3 freezes for some weird reason, and I havent managed to actually get out into the "world" yet. Will try again later on.

Tried Bad Company 2.

Playable on Overall Medium settings I'd estimate around 20fps, but it drops to rather low ones when it's intense gameplay.

I am playing it on overall low settings, as I think it plays the best like that. (30fps, drops to about 15 when intense.)

Even when turned to low settings, BC2 still looks good, but it's a slight disappointment it couldn't be played with higher settings.

Far Cry 2 plays with High settings overall, 4x antialiasing, runs smooth, 30fps.

??? New MacBook can play it at Medium - 0 lag :O

That's great news. How's the fan kicking at the more intense portion of the game?

You still cannot hear the fans, but after playing for about an hour, I boot into OSX, and all fans are running normal low RPM's, except the Optical Drive fan, running 1450rpm, up from 1000rpm. The GPU at 72degrees Celsius, and CPU cool at about 50degrees.

COD MW2, over lan, highest settings, no lag whatsoever.

But what will happen with 21.5 i3 iMac ?
