I had a problem with my first iMac and was told that once I ship back the first one, the second one would come. So I shipped the first one back and then got the second one. This second one had some defects too so I got another replacement ordered. But before I had a chance to send it back, I've already received the new replacement. So does this mean Apple screwed up and thinks I already sent the old one back? If so, can I get away with keeping both?

Regardless of how unethical it is (I know it is, no need to point it out), I'd just like to know if it's possible that I could keep both machines without any repercussions.

Send it back, or they'll probably charge your credit card for the 2nd one. I doubt they'll lose track of a computer. It might happen, but I wouldn't count on it.

The have your address, name, credit card etc. so unless you want them to charge you twice, send it back. Sooner than later they will start to look for it

they'll know. and if its not returned they'll look into it and likely end up charging you for a second machine.

I would send it back, I'm sure Apple puts comments under certain customers and if you have a bad rep they prolly wont be as fast the second time.

If a company or person is nice or good to you why use them for this?

That's why most thins sucks nowadays. A small group of people ruins the possibility of more open and loyal experience. If someone does something nice, someone will just abuse him, this applies to companies as well. In this case, if OP causes Apple headache, it may make things more complicated in future. E.g. they won't ship or build your new one before they have received the old one.

You should think how Apple feels about it. Being too selfish never causes good actions

Hellhammer has a great point, I retract my earlier statement and I say send it back, you have your new one, don't be greedy. It's evil. And evil is contagious. I actually feel much better from typing this

But that is the way it is currently already done. That's what happened with the first replacement exchange. Just that in the second exchange, they seem to have screwed up.

Yeah, i suspect they are expecting that device to be delivered to them most likely in the packaging they used to send you then one you received.

I've been in a similar situation before, and Apple is ABSOLUTELY expecting the first computer back. My PC tower died under warranty a while back, so I got sent a replacement. The replacement arrived first, along with CLEAR instructions to send the dead PC back in the box the replacement came in. I guarantee you Apple is expecting the old computer back, and most likely in a timely fashion.

Keep it.

Call your bank and tell them you lost your cc, they'll set up a new card with a different number on it. :)

You can keep both without any legal repercussions except the small detail that they will charge your credit card for both machines

I agree and hope you take it further. Now that you have two computers maybe you can use one to somehow scam an orphanage.

But I'm sure you are busy with law school or something.

Un-freaking-believable.

It saddens me to share the same species as the OP.

Learn from this story...

I had a friend that owned a sandwhich shop. She was struggling to make ends meet but needed a new stove for her store. She ordered one and it arrived. A few days later, the delivery guys showed up with her "new" stove. She kept the second one and sold it. A few days later, same thing. Another bunch of delivery guys showed up with her stove, she kept it and sold it. Free stove plus extra money, no one hurt right? Karma is a bitch... a few years later her husband died at her pregnant daughter's wedding.

True story.

hmmmm what to do?

You know how you have a little good guy with a halo on one shoulder and another little guy in a red suit and a spear on the other shoulder whispering in your ear on what to do? Well I am the little guy in the red suit!!! Keep it until they contact you! Who cares what repercussions happen later..Just use more and more lies to cover them up. I would do the same thing if my bank made a mistake in my favor...ha ha...enjoy....btw...I have no morals, so I do not care what you say about me!!!:D:D:D:D

If it's faulty enough to make you get a replacement, why would you even want to keep it?

As others have said, you will be charged for it if it isn't returned promptly. If it's Apple, they only give a few days for the returns made through cross-shipping.

Yeah true story that you heard from some-other guy who heard it from someone else who at that time read it on the internet...that story has urban legend written all over it..and besides, the husband was most likely a loser!!!

So is the only thing preventing you from breaking into an Apple store and stealing their computers the possibility of getting caught? Damn.

I guess you wouldn't mind then if somebody burglarized your home in a week then? Or maybe if you have a nice encounter with some burly men in an alley way? I mean, its fine as long as they don't get caught, right?

You son of a bitch! How dare you talk about my friend like that! Dan was the nicest, sweetest man in the world. He's the first thing my friends thinks about when she wakes up and the last thing she thinks about when she goes to sleep. And his four children, Becky, Darlene, DJ and Jerry still visit his grave every bday and father's day.

did they name their kids after the Conners from the show Roseanne? I am not sure about Jerry but the other three were on Roseanne which just re-inforces my belief that you are full of it...and btw, you do not know my mother, she is very nice!:D:cool:

That is the full cast of Roseanne! Either you are completely clueless or a comic genius. I would hope you are laughing as hard as I am now!:):):):):)
