This is absolutely nuts!
I just ran into the same problem when I did a fresh install to High Sierra.

Glad to see people are discovering the underling problem, but why the heck hasn't Apple fixed this yet!? Are they really that clueless, or is this something they have absolutely no intention of resolving?

Hi, im a complete Mac newbie and just bought a pre used Mac air with High Sierra installed, and am experiencing this same issue. If I were to update to one of the newer OS's would that solve the issue? If so, is there a way for me to do this seeing as I can't install if from the App Store?

@vivek28 have you made progress on your issue?

@DocteurQui to recap, after replacing valid.sqlite3 with file from earlier HS install and confirming apps launch, Security Update -005 and -006 have been installed. App Store apps still launch and previously installed apps show correct status in Purchased tab. BTW -006 didn't show in Updates tab (perhaps since already installed on source Mac?) so I manually updated using SecUpd2020-006HighSierra.dmg.

Yes, updating macOS to a different version should fix the problem. It seems to only be an issue in High Sierra.

Personally, if I purchased a used computer, I would completely erase the device and install a fresh copy of macOS. You can do that using macOS Recovery to erase and install either the original macOS that came with the device or the latest macOS supported by your device:

Make sure to create your own Apple ID. That way any software or media you purchase will be in your name/your control.

Hi all. I just remembered that I took those screenshots when WhatsApp crashed. also sent the reports to apple

So, I replaced my valid.sqlite3 file with the one shared by softmusic on this page. It's still there after a reboot, and it isn't automatically replaced by the faulty one, so it seems to work !

The -005 update was already installed before I made the change. I didn't install the -006 yet, I wait to see if this solution works in the long run. However, it appears on the Updates tab.

Hello All, I think the issue is resolved somehow.

I received and installed updates for some apps installed from App Store. And now all apps seems to be working. Not sure if its short-lived.

I would keep all posted if them crashes again !

Great news. App Store apps on my Mac have been running fine for several days, too.

If you read to pp 27-28 in the thread @DocteurQui references, it seems that Apple may have quietly addressed the issue. Some posters hadn't tried any of the proposed solutions yet issues seem resolved.
