Saw this too on my iPad and iPhone and I was worried there was something wrong when I went to settings and found no update

Yep I got the update prompt this morning without any real update available.

But..I am curious. When the GM does come out, is all I have to do to be done with the Beta delete the beta profile and then do the update?

Same here... Probably if there will be no GM update today. It might be released after the upcoming iPhone announcement.

I think it happened at exactly 12AM for me ... September 7, 12AM. India Time Zone. Both iPad and iPhone. Fiddled with them, restarted them, and checked the time - 12:03, so I guess 12AM triggered that popup.

No, there will not be another beta. The GM is coming out on Wednesday.

There's likely a bug with this alert.

I repeat, there WILL NOT be another beta before Wednesday.

Maybe it's just Apple doing some pre-testing on the "push" servers, working ahead of the release to make sure that the servers will be up to the task.

It's not, because the alert can be triggered by moving one's device date and time forward.

I have received the notification on both my iPad mini and iPhone 6.

GM should also be released on Wednesday, as many people suggest.

I suspect so, however mine will most probably have already been done

I have the developer's beta (5) and got the same message and after checking the current build assumed it was a goof up by Apple.

In the past when the GM version came out I still had to download and restore since I had the beta. There was no automatic update over the air.

u shouldnt need to restore to gm, i never did i just updated with itunes & it updated like any other manual update

I got the update message this morning, thinking its a teaser for ios9 Wednesday.
