Air and older pro is a tie for the most part. Newer processor does not change the fact that core count is lower and lower amount of RAM. Perfect example: iPad Air 2 receives longer support than iPhone 6/6 Plus, because A8X has more RAM and more cores. The same difference will eventually happen on 2020 iPad Air and 2018 iPad Pro.
Not trying to be picky, but the Ipad Pro 2018 has 4 GB RAM (Only the 1TB version has 6 GB), the exact same as the Ipad Air 4. Also the 8 Cores of the A12X, give only a measly 10% increase in multi core performance over the far more efficient 6 Cores of the A14. Single core performance of the A14 is on Par with the M1 Chip. So its not always about Core count, but efficiency, where the A14 excels over the A12X.

its actually because of the RAM not the extra core that A8X is still supported,

in fact RAM not CPU determined iOS/iPadOS/tvOS Support from iOS 13 till now

I use iPad 8 and IPad Pro, it is easier for me to switch between laminated and non laminated than you may think

It still differs from people to people and there’s nothing wrong with that.
Yeah and that's precisely the point. Some people insist that it's like that and can't be otherwise. Like "if you move to 120hz you can't go back". They can't go back. Many people can and do move from 60 to 120hz with no issue. Same for laminated vs non laminated... Many people don't care and/or barely notice...
And there is nothing wrong with that either... So it's important to have different opinions so that people looking to buy don't think it's something absolutely objective and therefore very important.
This does not mean that there aren't important and objective things in tech.. Moving from a HHD to a SSD makes a big difference and it's hard to go back... Moving to a 8 year old iPad like the air 1 to a recent iPad makes a big difference which become obvious....
Moving to laminated or 120hz is not in that "obvious to everyone" camp. It's just a (very) small nice bonus to some and and big deal to others... Definitely not a big deal to everyone... (and those for whom it's a big deal should accept this...)

Your absolutely right Digitalguy. Moving forward though, i can already see the 120 hz vs 60 hz screen discussions getting very heated on Macrumours when the iphone 13 models are released (13 Pros will have pro motion screens). All of a sudden the regular iPhone models will be seen as the choice of peasents with their 60hz screens, and I will be more than happy to be in the peasant camp.

Exactly, same as it has been on Android for a couple of years… My galaxy s10e is on 60hz and that’s perfectly fine. I am one of those who like small phones (now that 5.8in is considered small…) so I am not going to upgrade to get a larger phone and I don’t care about 120hz… I’ll be honest, I don’t even care about OLED or mini-led… My phone is oled (and my Samsung phones have been for 10 years now…) but if it were IPS I‘d be fine. I care about the contents not about the looks… Same with tablets… My Tab S7+ has OLED but I didn’t buy it for that, and if it were iPS I’d be fine too… Again content is what I care about…
