Personally for me, I'd skip this gen this year. I find it insulting apple is reusing older devices, removing features, and calling them new devices.
I would buy one in a minute if it had the stereo speakers of the iPad Pro.

Really? I am using a Mini 5 with two speaker, and they sound more than decent enough to me imo. I wonder if there are any differences between the speakers of the Air and Mini? Likely not...but perhaps our preferences on sound quality are far apart lol.
If you’re not an artist, Crayon can save a few bucks, or more if you get edu pricing.
I'd prefer the extra year or so of support. That's the thing... no it isn't. The 10.5 Pro and 'new' fake Air are the same price. Plus they removed features and added others. Many reviews even state the older model is better for day to day use because of the screen, speakers, and camera.
Hahaha.Nah, it's not that at all, but I am far too much of a gentleman to say what it actually is.
I have read my self to death about all the advantages and disadvantages and now facing a conundrum when I'm about to buy myself:
2017 iPad Pro 10.5 64GB LTE
2019 iPad Air 3 10.5 256GB LTE
The Air is $47 more than the Pro. I only play Football Manager for games which only requires iOS 10 specs.

Same here, Air 3 256 gb and very happy. This device is fantastic. Can't wait to see what it'll do with iOS 13 !I went with the Air. I'll take the a12, BT 5.0, no camera bump, and no white spot issue over the speakers and refresh rate. Just my $.02.
I went Pro 10.5; 4GB Ram, Promotion (iOS 13 will make and pencil 1 even better with MP it seems), the speakers are great for lap movie watching, and a new [April 2019 production] sealed box 'refurbished' saved me $100 over the same configured AIR.
Now I'm just wondering if I did the right thing, as a self-powered (no dongle, like with the lightning port on both the AIR or IPP 10.5") USB-C port on the IPP 11" with iOS 13 and external storage sounds very tempting.
But... thinking again, this 10.5 saved me a lot of cash over the 11" [also] and will continue for years to do everything I originally got it for... [I hope so ;-!]
The way I look at it, any iPad is great, and it's just a matter of being happy with your decision.
