Just a reminder that when the iPad Magic Keyboard was announced in March, it stated it would be available for order in May. It rolled out end of April. Most people were forecasting end of May.

I’m not implying it will be available for order this week or next, just that this year things are really fluid.

It certainly would be a pleasant surprise if preorders started this week or next and it shipped in the first week of October.

I don't know. I still feel that if it was going on sale early in the month they would have just said the date. I think that vaguely saying "October" implies a later release. Saying "October" half way through September makes it sound like it's just around the corner and gets people excited, but it also means you didn't lie if you know it's not actually going to available until several weeks later at the end of the month.

The decision tree for iPad Air launch probably came down to:

  1. September 15 event; or
  2. Mid-October event; or
  3. Late-October press release

If iPad Air is coming mid- or late-October, why would Apple choose #1? It only makes sense that Apple chooses the launch vehicle that is closest to product availability. Right now, Apple has Osborned their old iPad Air without an immediate replacement. There are no benefits to launching iPad Air in September if availability is in late October. Perhaps the mid-October event is packed, leaving no room for iPad Air? But I seriously doubt that. Watch Series 6 and Apple One have already been crossed off the list.

I really hope you're right. I'm hoping for an early October release, but I don't want to get my hopes up and be disappointed. ?

Actually my iPad Pro stopped charging, and Apple said it would be $500 just to look at it, that wasnt including any repairs, and said it would be cheaper to just buy a new iPad, so I bought the 10.5 iPad Air 3 months ago, and my wife now wants it since her iPad is the older 9.7 Pro, so she told me to get the new Air (She said get the Pro but Im not spending another $800 after my first 11 Inch pro did not last long) so I was going to order a blue iPad for me.
Something doesn’t seem right. When did you purchase the iPad Pro that isn’t charging?

I preordered when they first came out 2 years ago, never had any issues with it then all the sudden one day it just stopped charging, it would charge to 1% then stop. No matter the cord, the power brick, or outlet I used. So a few months ago I bought the current gen iPad Air to replace it. Wasnt about to drop another $800.

That iPad Pro came out in October or November of 2018, I believe. What card did you use to pay for this? Most cards offer an extra year of warranty coverage, which would mean you’re still within the two years — but you will have to file the claim soon to be covered. Let me know if you need more information about the process.

I appreciate it, but when I sent I bought the iPad Air a few months ago, I sent my iPad Pro in just in case they would give me a credit for it, but they deemed it in operable since the 1% charge I guess died on the way there, so I got $0 for it.

Man, I am sorry to hear that. As silly as it sounds, I would still contact Apple and explain the situation to them. Have all of the previous info ready so they can pull up your order. They may offer something to you.

For future purchases, remember that most cards extend the warranty by one year. The Apple Card doesn’t, but they offer 3% off their products with the card that would slightly offset the cost of Apple Care.

If you’re a Costco member, and you pay with their credit card, I believe you get an extra 3 years of coverage.

Depending on where you live, it may be worth it to just get Apple Care for peace of mind and ease of support.

Yeah I never had Apple Care on my iPads due to the many years Ive had them, never had a issue. Always have it on my watch, and my phone I get through Apple Annually so that includes Apple Care but this new one I bought I added it lol

They should update their wording to say „coming this month“ otherwise it just seems weird to read October when it’s already October now

if I read „Ab Oktober“ in German then I would assume on the first day of October just like new laws go into effect „Ab April“ here. They don’t state „1. April“ because everyone knows it goes into effect on the first day of the month

Maybe a it's a language thing, then.

Saying that something is "available in October" means any time in October.

Saying that something takes effect "as of October" means from the start.

In English "Available in October" means 'available sometime in October'.

But it's irrelevant now. The Air isn't ready today so Apple obviously didn't mean the 1st of October.

Well it's currently just past 8:00am at Apple HQ, so the day isn't necessarily a write-off yet, but I never really expected it to be available today anyway.
