Thanks for the answers guys! The only thing that is deteriorating is the lack of respect in this great community. As you can see from this thread, there are at least 4 jerks who cannot seem to stop themselves from responding with negative comments. Sure you can just disregard the thread and head onto the next one, but you chose to open this one, and strictly be an ******* in it. Who is the one bringing this forum down? Seems like only you can hold yourself accountable for that. To the other people, thank you! Will be buying today.
I do agree that some people are unnecessarily rude on these forums. However, I do agree with them that the repetitive threads on the exact same topics are very tiring. A simple 30 second look through the forums would have yielded multiple threads EXACTLY like this one.

It boils down to this - just post more constructively. Everyone.

I saw the iPad in operation for the first time last week, and I have to say, it is an amazing machine. I still think $500 is a bit high for it, compared to laptops available for that price, but it's much more portable than a laptop and, in many ways, more useful (instant on, no waiting, right to work).

There is a keyboard-dock available (cheap, too) for when you are using it in the office/home, so you only need to use the OSK when in the field.

It has the A4 CPU so performance won't be an issue; retina display isn't necessary because you hold it further away from your face (I hope!). Camera and gyroscope might be useful but I wouldn't hold off purchasing just for those features. iOS 4.2 with network printing is coming real soon.

If you need or want one, I'd say go for it now. They're in short supply, so I wouldn't expect to see any in the refurb store ;-)
