Edit. I saw this cable and was almost going to buy the one google makes as well. They include theirs with the phones.

The Google one might be USB 2.0, so it might degrade your transfer speeds significantly. I would stay away from it personally.

Apple should hopefully release another adapter soon to allow the new iPad Pros to connect to USB-A computers. I have a 12" MacBook and tend to use USB when I sync wired for transferring long files (otherwise I use Wifi).

A new adapter is unlikely. An official Apple cable (USB C to USB A as I posted above) would be nice though.

Yes, no need for a new adapter..they need a whole new cable.

Ordering the Amazon one over the weekend. Plan on picking up my iPad on the 10th.

Will find out and post back .

I ordered the new Ipad pro today as well and discussed this same cable issue with Apple support, they could not give an answer and also they thought it was strange that Apple dont have an official cable to go from USBC to standard USB on my old Mac Mini 2012.
I thought this dongle https://www.apple.com/nz/shop/product/MJ1M2AM/A/usb-c-to-usb-adapter?fnode=91
with a USB male to male may have worked but the apple tech could not confirm.
I see there are plenty of USBC to USB male leads on amazon etc that should work, but it would be nice for a proper Apple cable!!

Dongles and adapters are a no go. I’ve done the leg work lol, just buy a USB C with a standard male USB at the other end. I’ve even seen a few different kind at CVS which means they are everywhere. Buy a good one.

The only question is will a 3rd party cable communicate with iTunes. We don’t know for sure with this new iPad but the 4th gen Apple TV has a usb C and that can connect to iTunes when bricked so I’m sure any one would work. But no dongles.

Well I got my new iPad Pro today and used the Amazon USB A to USB C cable to connect it to my older iMac. It did a small update to iTunes when I connected it and from then on, I could sync to iTunes and do all the normal stuff. It download my movies and music just as requested. So we now know the answer to that question. Just wish I did not have different cables now for my iPhone and my iPad when I travel.
