That’s still nonsensical, so much time has passed, and no doubt there has been plenty of turnover, since Apple made that purchase.
Plus, 5G wasn’t really a thing in the iPhone back then.

I am confident, For Apple, this time around if not better than at least as good as Broadcomm or Qualcomm WiFi 7 chip. Apple is getting so much better designing chips. iPhone 17 or 18 will see Apple designed and made SOC with A-series,5G, WiFi 7, BT 6.0,NFC, etc

Good grief, I just bought M4 iPad Pros and now they will be worthless without the new chip. Time to make a post in the forum Marketplace.
