iPhone 17e New iPhone before September Event

I need to buy a new iPhone in the next 2 weeks and I'm planning to purchase the 17e, as I don't need anything too fancy. I was wondering how the September 9th Apple event would impact the price of the 17e and trade in values for a iPhone 13 Mini and an iPhone 11. Thanks for the thoughts on this!

I picked up a 16e cheap on Amazon to hold me over until the new iPhone 18 releases.

Not interested in trade in value - just a functional iPhone for now.

Still keeping my 17 Air though...

Out of curiosity, what do you intend to do with the 16e once the new 18 is out? Just keep in storage?

Price of the 17e will increase. It's extremely unlikely Apple will wait another 6 months to until the 18e before taking action.

I think it's possible they leave it the same while the other models bump up anywhere from $50 to $200. Then they can justify calling it a "budget" iPhone. 🙂

It's possible, but given Apple increased the budget iPad price by $100, the stars would have to all align for them leave the 17e untouched.

But the trade in actually goes back up after the pre-order window opens.

When I was looking at trading in my 4 year old M1 Mac Studio, it was $440 a few weeks ago.

Then, after the pre-orders opened, I checked again and it went up to $640.
