Upgraded from the generation 2 to this one (12.9 inch ) but will be my last iPad Pro unless and until Apple actually has a better iOS with apps that can take advantage of all the hardware. My previous iPad Pro 12.9 inch was all I really needed, but I liked face ID, plus the pencil charging system on the iPad itself which is why I bought it. Hope Apple is listening to us and actually gives us more in the iOS next time.
Well they had a demo of Photoshop running on the iPad. That alone is enough of a pro app that it drove Macintosh sales for years.

I too want to see more apps that take advantage of the hardware, and I wouldn't be surprised to see more iPad-specific features added to iOS in June at the dev conference.

I bought one last week, had the uneven screen tint and the shift was very noticeable, took it back 2 days later for my money back. Will try again later. Also will probably wait till most apps that I used is optimized for the 11 inch as the big black borders is annoying. But for the 2 days I had it, it was okay. I think I prefer my ipad pro 10.5 with home button.

I have a long history with iPads/IPPs.

This is the best one yet, hands down. Very well refined compared to previous models. I use it as a companion device to my MacBook(s). As most have mentioned, it’s just not quite ready to replace a computer running MacOS for my use cases.

I want either of the following:
  • The MacPad Pro: A MacBook Pro with a detachable screen. When detached, it’s an iPad running iOS. When attached, it’s a screen for a MacBook. They share/sync data and have other various integrations. When attached, you have the option of running either OS and fast switching between the two. Or something like that.
  • iPadOS: A more capable operating system with more professional apps. Keyboard/mouse support for apps that work better with such a configuration (optional use only, keep touch as default/preferred). File system. Support for external-extended monitors. Support for external drives. Terminal app exposing a fully functional UNIX shell.
I’ll continue to dream ... in the meantime, really enjoying this “minimalist” device, it does a fantastic job for the majority of my basic use cases.
