You could go dual screen with the mini.

Get a pair of 20" or 24" LCDs and the miniDP-DVI adapter.

You could span two 1600x900 Dell screens for $420 plus $30 for the adapter.

Alternatively, you could go two 1920x1200 Dell screens for $1040 plus $30.

Or a combination of a 20" and 24".

If you go dual 24", you'd get more screen space than a single 30".

Yeah that's a good idea, I was thinking about that. But then again I don't think I have the room on my desk to hold two monitors and my z-5500 speakers haha..

From what you've said, I'm sure you'd be better off with a mini and a 30" display. The feeling of space you get is simply amazing. I still often sit back and look at my screen and smile to myself because of its sheer beauty and detail, 2.5 years after I got it. I've never felt like that about any other piece of hardware, particularly not this long after purchase! 30" displays really are something special!

What nick9191 said was a good idea, buy the adapter in store if possible and try it out before taking it home.

No, don't get that. You need laptop RAM I'm afraid! Go to the Crucial website and use the memory advisor tool to find the memory you need. You can always get the product code and search for it elsewhere to find it cheaper if you want although its not normally worth it in terms of price differential. :)

I've only got a 24", but I often do the same. Glad to know I'm not the only one. Neither my bank balance or my retinas could take a 30".

Crap! I don't know how I made that mistake buying desktop ram. I was too excited so I rushed through the ordering process I guess haha.

After contacting Newegg, my order has already shipped (this fast!) - so I had to buy the right sticks of ram. I will have to RMA the desktop sticks grr!!

I soon will understand what both you guys mean haha!

Can you refuse the shipment? Sometimes you can just tell the delivery guy that you don't want it and have it sent straight back - saves you the hassle of having to get a delivery off. Ask Newegg if that'd be ok. Mind you, if you've now ordered the right RAM too, it might be pot luck on which package you send back and which you keep!! :p

Well I ordered the monitor, ram, and hdd. So if i refuse it then I won't receive any of that.

I think it will be faster to rma it.

Extended desktop and video mirroring: Simultaneously supports up to 1920 by 1200 pixels on a DVI or VGA display; up to 2560 by 1600 pixels on a dual-link DVI display using Mini DisplayPort to Dual-Link DVI Adapter (sold separately)

I hope I did not make a mistake buying this monitor http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824005115

It says "on a dual link DVI display" -- I bought the Dual-Link DVI Adapter, am I alright?

Is there any difference in terms of performance/speed from real VRAM and VRAM shared from the RAM?

No one seems to have answered this but the answer is yes. Dedicated VRAM is faster than main RAM, is connected straight to the GPU (instead of being accessed over the PCIe bus and competing with the CPU for access) and leaves you will all your RAM for code/data...

Anyone know why the shipping estimate for the Mini Display Port to Dual-Link DVI Adapter is now shipping in 7-10 business days?

When I check my order online it still says shipping in 24 hours but I guess they change it just today or yesterday after I bought it.

Maybe a newer bug-free ver. is coming?

I don't think the monitor you describe is a good deal because it has only 1 DVI input.

I think you should get dell monitor 3008WFP.
You can get the refurbish with 3 year warranty for $1099.

It has 2 dvi, HDMI, component inputs ...etc.. here is the link
http://outlet.us.dell.com/ARBOnline...&cs=22&l=en&lob=PDA&MODEL_DESC= 3008WFP&s=dfh

That is my 2 cents input

I think he's already ordered it. Besides, not everyone needs multiple monitor connections or HDMI. I'll admit though that the Dell monitors are very good.
