I plan on getting the base model mini. if anything it'll make a wonderful secondary computer and a home for homebridge.

Well, the mini configuration that it replaced did not have an SD card reader either.

Hello, I ordered CTO iMac M4 1T (Apple reseller from italy) on 31/10 , but they can't say a date of delivery ...in 2024 !!! does anybody knows when they will ship ?

This works of course. It makes backups more complicated though, because you lack one copy on your most reliable internal mac SSD drive. I would strongly prefer to use the external SSD as a backup for time machine.

Nah, I’ve had issues with external drive randomly unmounting in the past and every time that happens I’m terrified they’ll get fubar’d.
