Well, Apple even upgraded the M3 MBA with 16GB today, IMO proving they have ruined the experience for so many out there who have 8GB of RAM. You can say well AI runs on 8GB right now. What about in a year or two? And how well will it run any of it? I suspect not well. Apple has lowballed with the RAM for many years in all its products.
They upgraded M2 too.The 16GB version is exactly the same as it was yesterday. We just got a 200USD price cut.

But you are correct, Apple has lowballed the RAM for many years, including ESPECIALLY before Tim Cook. That doesn't stop me from pushing back when people say stupid **** about 8GB computers. Noone stopped you from buying a 16GB Mac yesterday.

Yeah, I'm done with the RAM debates

So many, for so long, insisted macOS and ASi were "magical" with how they needed less RAM

It's bollocks ... it was always bollocks... in defense of egregious component upgrade pricing and thus increased margins on products

It's all Tim Cook cares about anymore

IMO, Tim Cook has ruined AAPL for everyone except himself and his shareholders. The wealthiest 1% reap all the rewards - the customers get screwed over again and again if they need anything of an upgrade. Base models are fine for text documents but don’t do the real work. Sad but true.

My body is so ready.
So you’re saying you’ve bought some KY?

It would be hilarious to me if there were a class action suit against Apple and they were forced to offer a cash refund or
cost difference upgrade to everyone who purchased an 8GB within the last 12 months.

IMHO, selling a purposefully obsolescent machine that is sold as fit for purpose should be considered fraud.
