I have the tiniest scratch on my new Mac Pro. Anyone know if it's even possible to do anything about it? It really bothers me because it's in the front and it was my fault.

Yes. This happened to me also. Get some leather straps, any sort will do, tie several together so that they form a bunch at one end whilst the other end is left loose. Kneel on the floor next to the Mac Pro, grip the leather straps in one hand tightly, then in a swift fashion whip the straps over your head and into your back hard as you can. I find that if I say “bad boy, bad boy” or something to that effect upon each back strike it helps.

Try:

Also you can do a google search yourself for “how to remove aluminum scratches”. However be careful since you may make the problem worse. It can be a good idea to try a technique on an inconspicuous place, such as the inside surface of the removable enclosure.

Probably best to leave it alone. If the surface looks anything like those of silver MBP's or Mini's then you're likely to produce a shiny patch by tampering with it.

It's a problem I'm all too familiar with from wrist watches that come with a sand blasted finish - there you have to get the whole surface done for a truly seamless look.

I'm inclined to agree with your assessment. That's why my suggestion was to try some technique on the inside surface of the enclosure first. More likely than not I think it'd just end up making a shiny spot like you said.

I managed to get a mark on my 2019 the day I bought it. I bumped my office chair leg against it and left a small mark. As you suggest, I just left it alone, and treat it as a reminder of how sensitive this system is to scratches.

Well this was overall useless.

Thanks, I will check this out.

trusty old apple, making more stupidly expensive kit, that the slightest breath, and it's scratched. I think they do it to be annoying.

If we all complain enough, I'm sure Apple will make the next enclosure out of titanium or tungsten! Of course the machining costs will set the base price well into the $20000+ range, but it'll be worth it! 😋

TIG welder, some aluminium filler rod, very fine grinding / sanding to level it out, sandblast the repair till the textures match, re-anodise.

No good . Apple's chassis are made of aluminum for their thermal conductivity properties .

Titanium = 19-24 W/mK .
Tungsten = 115-197 W/mK .
Aluminum = 220-240 W/mK .

Are you sure catering to that tiniest scratch is the best use of your time, considering you purchased a Mac Pro?
