A small part of me don't want the Mac Pro's to get updated silently: If they were announced at WWDC then it would certainly dispel some of the sentiment that the Pro's are no longer relevant and on the verge of being discontinued.
If new ones were announced today, I wonder if that $4,999 sticker price still be there for 2012 hardware.
I think a fully loaded iMac will be enough for what I plan on doing. iMacs, desktops, laptops etc... computers in general... have come a LONG way in the past 5 or so years. An iMac with a hefty SSD and Thunderbolt tech is beastly.
BUT I would still love to see what a new Mac Pro has to offer.![]()
I thought the same thing as you, but I was oh so wrong, Oh so wrong, Sold the iMac and went to a older mac pro for now... Cooling, storage, ram, all so much superior and will be so worth the wait.
What cooling issues did you hit? Was it just that it gets hot to the touch or did it carry actual symptoms? I'm just wondering. They're probably on the edge of being enough for me when maxed out fully (even though I'd make the 27" into my secondary display because my current one is still significantly better). My concerns were more like ports (especially for storage) and serviceability (it's terrible). A mac pro has a lot of advantages, but it's likely that we'll see another extremely expensive 6 core, and not everything I use scales well with cpu core counts.
Australian store still down when you access from the home page, individual Mac (e.g. MBP, iMac) pages buy now option is still working. Maybe they are upgrading the actual Apple store and it has nothing to do with new products at the moment.
