My next MBP purchase will be in the summer of 2010........... in the time being I'll just have to be happy with what I've got and ignore the hype.

hype?go back to bed..

I think its funny that people actually "wait" for an update. You realize 2.4 - 2.6 is like 2 milliseconds difference in load time?

Just get it when you want it. Updates mean nothing... Unless its blue ray, and a new case design, just get it when you want it.

update means nothing?the current mbp update means nothing..lol..
waith for mwsf 15 jan with ledscreen, bether graphics..blueray option(?)..

Casual users (90% of users) see no change in performance from updates to specs. Its worthless for your to wait until an update comes out, unless its something to do with the screen, or another form of aesthetic change. I just ordered my 17 inch 1920x1200 glossy and im going to love it :D

if you're a casual user why did you bought the mbp?
the high resolution arent that big of a deal on a small screen..

I will get my new MBP tomorrow. Not interested in January. A new model may be announced but may still be weeks out from the announcement. And, as someone mentioned, I'll let someone else work the bugs out of a Rev 1 system. This MBP sold today is pretty solid. I may upgrade next year around this time, who knows. But I'll gladly "settle" for the one being sold today.

as you please but i rather wait..if you're not interested what would hapend in mwsf 15 january that's your problem..

I played the waiting game for a long time. When the bump finally came about last week, I figured it was time to jump. The change was nominal enough and didn't affect the refurb market. There's no incentive for me to wait another 3+ months when the MBP that is out now will meet my needs.

I bought a refurbed MBP 2.2 and it should arrive in the next couple of days. anxiousness abounds!

We'll see what January holds, but I've got no shortage of work I can do between now and then.

why did'ent you bought the 2,4 ore 2,6?
then you rather should bought the mb(2.2)even though the graphics are bether on mbp..

I've got the money waiting for a MacBook Pro, but I really don't need the machine right now, so I figure I'll just see what comes out in January. Normally I wouldn't really give a **** because of the minimal performance increases that they'll more than likely see.

BUT, I've got nothing to lose. My computer is perfectly fine for now.

Dear friend, thanks for presuming to know what I should have bought without querying for my uses or intentions with the new computer. I'm sure you have a lot of positive input on these forums, but I'm unimpressed with the presumptive arrogance you showed in that post.

Anyhow, to answer your question. Money is of an issue for me which is why I mention buying the stock refurb. If money were no hurdle I'd max the specs out for the pure pleasure of it, but the price difference for the spec bumps wasn't worth it for me. I work with final cut studio professionally. I want the non-integrated graphics for motion, etc. and appreciate the larger screen for portable work (though the 17" is not portable enough for me) and for my aging eyes. I want the firewire 800 port. I want the 3/4 cardbus slot for some expandability including esata. I want a matte screen. I could go on, but for me those are some of the main reasons I chose a MBP over a MB.

best,
bagelche

I plan on buying in the Dec/Jan timeframe. Still haven't decided between MB/MBP. I'll buy whatever is available at the time and know that I'm getting a great computer.

I'm waiting.

I want an aluminium, light laptop (under 2.5 kg), with a Penryn processor. Without an optical drive if this is possible, that would be just perfect. And Microsoft offce 2008 for Mac, of course. I don't want to stick to the old version.

This would be a switch of course.

ok.i only asked;)

do you need it now? Yes? Buy it. You'd rather wait because it's for fun more than pleasure? Fine. I would recommend going in and buying it right now. Then don't go onto apple.com or this site for a year or so. Enjoy your mac :)
I agree. Buy it now, if you need it. if you can wait till january, then wait until january and see what comes out.

I bought mine in october, I am very happy with it and even if they do update the mbp in january, I'll still be happy with what I have.

be careful though, if you keep waiting for the next best thing, you'll never buy anything because there is ALWAYS something better in the horizon.
