They both were recently update, so I just don't think that Apple will update them again so soon.

I don't know why you consider the macbook update recent. May 15th, 2007 was the last update. It has been 161 days as of today. If we assume that the macbooks will be released sometime after Leopard, and on a Tuesday, we come to the following:

Tuesday, October 30th: 168 days
Tuesday, November 6th: 175 days
Tuesday, November 13th: 182 days
Tuesday, November 20th: 189 days
Tuesday, November 27th: 196 days

The 27th is the last Tuesday before Thanksgiving, and hence Black Friday, when the Christmas season begins. Since we know that the macbooks have been on a 6 month update cycle since their release, it's a fairly safe bet that they will be updated at some point after 180 days. November 13th looks especially promising, but it might be moved to November 14th, because the 11th is Veterans Day.

The macbook pros are a different beast, but I believe that we will see a minor speed bump(that might include better HD specs) and/or LED backlighting in the 17" before Christmas. I know it wouldn't be much, but it would be enough to give shoppers a reason to pick one up in lieu of a PC.

I think the 6th is a fair shot, before the rush any later then that would not be a good move.

Well November 6th seems like it will probably be the day. But for my own sanity I hope it's this Friday lol :apple:

Here's the thing, I don't care when it will show up. Sure I want one really badly, but what is killing me is not knowing when the hell I can go buy one!!! I'd be stupid not to wait it out, but I want one so bad! Just tell me the day I can make the purchase already Steve!!! PLEASE! you're killing me man! I check like every 15 mins for new info. I am very sad :(

I feel your pain....money is waiting in my account for a new macbook

We're in the same boat ;)
Just reading this thread makes me wanna go to the Apple Store and buy the damn thing!
Just an announcement will suffice :(

Edit: Why is it that it will be released on a Tuesday, sorry if Im missing something here :)

A possible good indication that an update is coming Nov 6 is that they are showing MacBooks in the Leopard splash page on Apples website. I know it's probably their best selling machine, but I find it funny with the new iMac and all that they chose the macbooks to sell the OS. Especially because the new iMac's shell seem to flow better with the new aluminum look of Leopard.

Though if it does get updated it'll probably be just another speed bump, nothing significant until next year.
