Got a link?

Special solution?? Special cloth - the one that's on sale for like USD $19 smackers?
I do not have a link...remember reading about the Pro Display..thought it was neat but EXPENSIVE (made a note about the display cleaning process). Not something I needed and moved on.

Seeing as how OP was talking about an MBP, not sure what led you to believe I was talking about anything other than MBPs....

Being a "Pro" product, with people spending north of USD $4K for a maxed out RAM and GPU M1 Max, it's surprising Apple didn't offer a matte option. Like they did in the past for like $50...

That was 2009. 12 years ago. An eternity as measured by modern technology. They haven't done it since AFAIK.

You also know that the nano texture application is extremely finicky, it's not meant for laptop use because if you get liquid and do not have the right polishing cloth, you can damage the nano texture.

it's perfect for a stay at home monitor that is not moved. Laptop? I don't know..

Is that really still a thing?

I haven't seen a Matte screen on laptop for at least the last 5 years.

Not expecting or wanting a nano texture. But an anit-glare matte screen option like Apple brought back in 2012 for the MBP 15"

Yeah, like we didn't see a large(r) screen option (larger than the 15"; effectively bringing back a near 17") for almost a decade.......

do you have a link to the matte screen protector you have?
Sorry, I don't have a link. I bought it from a place here in Japan.
I'd imagine that most would do a decent job though. I've used different ones from different brands over the years.

heh, glossy screens in the Apple stores sell. for whatever reason. I hate them too.

I have a Moshi screen on my Intel MBP, which is slightly matte. Just waiting on them to release these for the new 14" and 16".

Has anyone found the dimensions of the new screens (especially the 14"?).

Edit:

looks like Moshi will have an iVisor out early next year:

Hello Cal, thank you for your message and interest in Moshi's product. The film protectors for the MacBook Pro 14/16 inches are estimated to release around mid-January, 2022.

I own more of the matte macbook pros as a private customer than anyone on earth, almost certainly. I have 4 in my room and I've gone through I think 6 total. It's my favorite screen ever. I have the 2012's maxed out. I need a new setup desperately, in fact I am considering pulling the screen off some of these and having them installed into a case to use as a standalone monitor, that's how great they are for my eyes. I wish Apple offered it in a new macbook pro. For now, I am tryihng to figure out how to buy a mac mini and then somehow run the monitor through this laptop.

I have three matte MBP's, 1x15 MBP classic, 2x17" MBP Classic. 1x23" ACD, 4x 30" ACD. All matte...

1x 15" MBP Touch Bar, and 1x 24" iMac, 1x 27" iMac – with hideous glass screens

Glass adds contrast and saturates colours, hence why print fine art photography will use a layer of glass or acrylic on top of the image to enhance the sharpness and colour.

To do true HDR and super high contrast on a matter screen is very expensive. Look at the prices of reference monitors compared to consumer OLED and Micro LED screens.

A matte display option wouldn't work well on the MBP. The notch would still have to be covered with glass.

My 2010 MBP had a matte screen and it was nice. But it was nothing compared to the newer Retina screens. I'll never use anything other than a Retina screen now; it makes matte screens look dull and lifeless.

Is Moshi's anti-glare screen protector good?

Kensington and Belkin and they have notches 😛 Although these are for the older models, so you might have to wait until they update for the new releases.

The Kensington one is great, I use it on my MBP 13 2020 and the it dulls the glossy, but not the brightness. It's magnetic, so you can take if off very easily.
Is there any other matte/anti-glare screen protector as good as the Kensington one, but without the privacy filter?
