so its obvious apple will update the mighty mouse within the next 6 months....what are our thoughts on what it'll be/look like. everyone seems to hate the mighty mouse (i actually like it) and people are complaining it doesn't look nice with the new aluminium on the apple computers and keyboards. i reckon it will also "go" aluminium and probably touch sensitive. instead of a scroll ball thingy you just swipe with your fingers....thoughts???

They've already updated/refreshed the MM recently - it has white pinch buttons now where the previous had grey.

For me, it's not that obviously due for a refresh because the mouse is the same colour as the new keyboard keys!

I don't mind the Mighty Mouse. However, I do think Apple could make something better. There have been patents filed for a "multitouch mouse" that would supposedly let you use every finger to control stuff. I'm not sure I would like this. Apple, all we need is a real two-button mouse with a scroll wheel. Pretty simple. :)

If that is what you need there are thousands of mice that will meet your requirements. Apple is interested in making something original.

I am not a fan of the MM. at work i use a MX revolution and thats what im going to replace my MM with. The mouse does it's job well i just need more buttons and features. and the MM is not a good gaming mouse. I find it hard to PVP in WoW with the MM.

Well I just got my mac a couple of weeks ago now, and I am loving it. It's the best thing since slice bread IMO. I use the MM for WoW and I think it works perfectly fine. I do not have any issues at all with it, just as long as you configure it to use 2 buttons that is.

Can anyone recommend me a good looking mouse, that is not the mighty mouse, because I hate that thing and it's too expensive.

I wish Apple would just make a nice 2 button mouse with a scroll wheel. I mean I love apple but when the hell are they going to accept that this is just better than the stupid 1 click mouses they have been making all the time. Different isn't always better.

Anyway the best looking mouse I have found so far that is decently prices is actually a Microsoft mouse lol. But I'm sure there must be something better out there....anyone? I also kinda like the Lenovo mouse but it's in black only.

i'm using the MX Revolution, I love the thing to death. Sucks the batteries don't last that long. 8-12 hours what a pity. Also it sucks I can not replace the battery on its own, sounds like the iPod lol

I just ordered the new iMac with the wireless MM but I have never been a fan of the MM because it's not ergonomically friendly like say the Logitech MX lines. Sadly the only thing holding me back from updating to the new Logitech MX revolution is it's not bluetooth. I currently have the MX 1000 and it sometimes interferes with my wireless signal whereas bluetooth wouldn't do that.

I just got the Logitech S 530 Wireless desktop (link), and it's by far the best keyboard/mouse I've ever owned. I guess it could stand to look more "Mac-like", but if I wanted looks over usability I would have bought an Apple keyboard/mouse. :p

It's sooooo comfortable!

i'm totally fine with the mighty mouse (when it works), but i'm replacing it with something new. after 4 months of use the side buttons and the scroll wheel are unreliable. i also have a 2 month old mighty mouse at work and the scroll wheel is also starting to lose accuracy. i really wish the quality was better. i'm looking at logitech for now. i think they make the best mice.

Apple has now made the best keyboard in the world and they pair it with the worst mouse in the world.

The Logitech Revolution is great, and the smaller notebook version of the mouse matches well with the black and aluminum.

Seems like I'm one of the few that doesn't enjoy the MX Revolution that much. I really don't like the scroll wheel, and it's quite uncomfortable in my hand (though I'm getting used to it). But I do like the thumb wheel actually, it's one of those things I thought I would hate but actually like.

But I'll probably sell it off. I've ordered a Razer DeathAdder and will get it next week. Since I've given up finding the perfect wireless mouse, I will have to start looking at corded ones. And Razer makes great mice, haven't tried this one though so I hope it will be good. It's like a better version of MS Explorer 3, and without the MS logo :D

i Just bought a replacement mouse since I am not a big MM fan. It is a Logitech
LX3 optical mouse. Very Simple ouse that does what the MM does plus is more comfortable. It has rubber side grips and 4 way scroll bar. Thanks to the Logitech application i was able to get all the functionality MM offers. I have the horizontal scrolling setup to do Expose/Dashboard.

Only problem I have with the MM is the scroll ball...

Works great for the first few months and then is starts jamming up...

I had 3 replacements with my white iMac.

When/If they come out with a new mouse w/ an improved scroll function, I will demand for Apple to give me one as a replacement for my MM.

Logitech will release their new bluetooth mouse next month. It will probably be a good replacement for the BT MM.

Looks good ... except from the pictures (the specifications say nothing about it), it looks like it only has three buttons. So for people who rely on the fourth button of the Mighty Mouse (or, like me, the fifth button of my non-Apple mouse--I'm still looking for a suitable Bluetooth replacement!), it's probably not an option.

Unless, of course, you can survive with only three buttons. I suppose there are people who get by with one... :)

Well there is technically 5 buttons on it since there's a horizontal "scroll" on the wheel which can be configured to do other things.
But there's no side buttons which is a bummer.

I guess I'll order one when it comes out if I don't like the Razer DeathAdder.

Does anybody have experience with the Radtech BT600? It is the only other bluetooth mouse that I have seen that seems to be a competitor, since Logitech only makes the small notebook versions.

I ordered my iMac with the Wireless MM and I hate it.

It doesn't track properly in OSX but is better in Windows Vista. How ironic is that?

I've taken it upon myself to order a Wired MM, so we'll see how it compares. I really don't want to cave and buy an ugly PC gaming mouse but I do need to be able to consistently right click etc.

I've used it and it functioned rather poorly. It looses contact often and has lousy tracking. Other people has also had the same experience.

OK, thanks. That's too bad. Looks like the only choices for a bluetooth mouse are MM and Logitech V270/V470. Are there any others that you know of?

There are quite a few BT mice out there. But most of them are tiny.

There is one called The Mouse BT II and also Microsoft Wireless Laser Mouse 8000.

I haven't tried neither of them, but I've tried a couple of other models from MacMice which were ok but nothing great. So besides the look of the MS mouse I think it's the best one of the two.
