Yep, mail, calendar, and contactsDoes the new Outlook synch with Google calendar ? This was a show stopper for me a few years ago.
When I’ve had that happen, it usually re-appeared after quitting/restarting Outlook and/or rebootMy outlook (latest version) does not even show the "new outlook" slider. Am I missing something? MS support themselves can't even figure it out.
The "New Outlook" button will not even appear if you already have any email accounts set up that are not Gmail or Outlook accounts. You can get the button to appear by removing all IMAP, POP, or Exchange accounts, then restart Outlook. My outlook (latest version) does not even show the "new outlook" slider. Am I missing something? MS support themselves can't even figure it out.
I just installed OfM Beta Version 16.47 (21020100) to check out New Outlook. My Outlook/Exchange, iCloud and Gmail email accounts all appeared to have migrated correctly (my btinternet account didn’t migrate, but I expected that as it's shown as "not yet supported" - no idea why they're having to exclude certain ISPs).Hi folks,
I thought that an all-encompassing thread for the upcoming "new" Outlook for Mac could be convenient. As it seems to come nearer:
https://www.macrumors.com/2020/12/15/microsoft-365-mac-apps-native-m1-support/
From within this article: "The updated Outlook for Mac app that's available today now includes support for iCloud accounts, allowing work and personal emails, contacts, and calendars in one app. This will be rolling out to Outlook for Mac users in the coming weeks."
I am rather anxious about that update because features that are very important to me seem to miss, quoting from here
https://support.microsoft.com/en-us...-for-mac-6283be54-e74d-434e-babb-b70cefc77439
"Features not yet available in the new Outlook for Mac
There are several features that are available in the current version of Outlook for Mac for Office 365 that aren't yet available in the new Outlook experience.
- Block sender
- Contact lists
- Delegates
- Online archive
- Resend message
- S/MIME - Now available in Beta Channel version 16.43 (20100803)
Known issues
The product team knows about and is investigating the following issues in the new Outlook for Mac:
- Calendar events opened from .ics files can't be saved into accounts
- Mail and events can't be moved or copied between accounts
- Shared calendars can't be added using Open Other User's Folder
- Delegated and shared inboxes can't be added using Open Other User's Folder"
Very annoying for office surroundings where delegations are critical, and also to handle multiple accounts, contact lists and so on - it looks like that lots of Pro features are going to disappear!
I have refused to "test" the new Outlook so far and am willing to omit this "update" as long as these indispensable features are implemented.
And of course I am really interested in hands-on experiences with the "new" Outlook for Mac! Please post here.
Do you get standard, Preview or Beta updates? Also what build do you have (the numbers in brackets after the Version number).I don't have the New Outlook toggle, i'm on version 16.45 and only use my outlook.com account with it, any ideas why?
Thought I'd add the following because there have been quite a few posts asking the same question: The New Outlook toggle will only appear if you're using either the Preview or Beta version.I don't have the New Outlook toggle, i'm on version 16.45 and only use my outlook.com account with it, any ideas why?
I am not sure that is correct - I only have updates through the Current Channel and I have the 'New Outlook' Toggle. The New Outlook toggle will only appear if you're using either the Preview or Beta version.
This is no longer correct. The "New Outlook" was released to the Current channel several months ago.The New Outlook toggle will only appear if you're using either the Preview or Beta version.
Clearly you're right. I just checked a release list and it looks like New Outlook was available in Current Channel from 16.42 (20101102).I am not sure that is correct - I only have updates through the Current Channel and I have the 'New Outlook' Toggle.

Nobody is excluding certain IPSs. The new Outlook simply does not yet support IMAP, that's all.I just installed OfM Beta Version 16.47 (21020100) to check out New Outlook. My comments were relating to Preview and Beta Channel releases - I know Current Channel release from 16.42 only has support for specific non-IMAP accounts (Exchange, Outlook, Yahoo, iCloud). In Beta Channel New Outlook rolled out some time ago, with email getting IMAP support in version 16.46 (21011805). I switched to New Outlook when 16.47 (21020100) was released on Beta Channel. As I posted elsewhere my Exchange, iCloud and Gmail accounts migrated perfectly; my btinternet IMAP account was flagged as not supported before I switched, and didn't migrate. The only major issue I encountered was that my Outlook/Exchange account Contacts list didn't migrate (whereas my iCloud and Gmail contacts did); Microsoft advise me this is a known issue. Beta 16.47 (21020300) just landed, not sure what'll have changed yet.Nobody is excluding certain IPSs. The new Outlook simply does not yet support IMAP, that's all.
Quick update for info: I just installed 16.47 (21020300) and my btinternet account has migrated to New Outlook with no problems (but Outlook/Exchange contacts still missing).Nobody is excluding certain IPSs. The new Outlook simply does not yet support IMAP, that's all.

I heard about the transition to the web versions but didn’t catch the part about stopping work on current versions until then and have seen functionality added since the announcement (like shared calendars)In the end, this is all pointless because MS has already announced they're killing all work on current versions of Outlook to focus on creating an all-new version based on the Outlook webmail version so that the apps are virtually identical on all platforms. This transition is supposed to happen in early 2022 (which probably means mid-to-late 2022).
