there
I am using my 2017 32GB iPad professionally
and
even streamed a euro football game
to my TV
to a 1070dpi TV
with 2 HomePod mini speakers blue

and had 58% battery left!

the iPad was not fully charged.

the Dell XPS 13" 7380 could not do that!

When you buy "renewed" from anyone other than Apple, you will NOT get the warranty.

Get an apple refurbished - one year warranty included:

If this is something you plan on regularly using, don’t cheap out and get too old of an iPad just to save a little money. A refurbished or discounted 128GB 8th gen would be great.

How much are you looking to spend? You might be able to pick up a used 2018 iPad Pro for about $400. There is also the 9th gen iPad.

You can get the iPad Pro 5th gen for a cheaper price than the new one cause it is the same as the 5th gen except for the M2 chip!

…. Its worth mentioning that the 10.5 iPad Pro and 1st and 2nd 12.9 iPad Pros had Lightning with USB 3.0 speeds.
Amazing! I am a long time user of an iPad 10.5 256gb 2017 as main device for about 4 years now. I didnt fcing knew this! I thought until know my ipad was cabable of usb 2.0 speeds… because of that i am airdropping all the time, know i will use my external ssd drives :D

thank you!

edit:

insane -> usb 2.0 practical 30mb(yte)/s to usb 3.0 practical 450mb(yte)/s

via stopwatch, hand stopped, around 7 sec for 2,5gb from ssd to files (the iPadOS info banner timing is wrong)

luckily i own the recommended Lightning to USB 3 Camera Adapter

made my day :D

Should I order from Apple or just get one off Amazon?

All things being the same bit of an advantage ordering from Apple. Amazon support isn't bad, but Apple's is much better if you have a problem since they are experts on the product.

What about the lightning port is bad?

As mentioned the latest iPad Pros support thunderbolt speeds.

Oh damn so what should I get as far as gigabytes at a minimum?

Depends on how much space your applications and data take. Since memory is not upgradeable if the option is available I'd overbuy if you can.

Can videos also be stored on an external storage? Pictures videos and what other things?

As above you could store anything you want on external storage. Take into consideration:

Only the later Pro modes have thunderbolt transfer speeds

Make sure that the apps you use support external storage or you might have to do some convolutions like copying data from external to internal storage. [Confession - don't use an external drive with my Pro so my experience is limited]

External drive support isn't as good as it should be. No eject option, reports of data loss on SSDs when removing them so you have to be cautious.
