- Did your new MBA replace another computer or iPad, if so what kind?
The 11.6 won't replace my main computer, a 15" mbp core i7, but will complement it. Most times unless I know I'll need to edit video on the road, I think the 15" is overkill. The 15" mbp is still my workhorse, but I don't always need to carry it around. Enter the air.
- How will you use it; main machine, desktop replacement, travel only or ?
I'll use it in the living room mostly, browsing and emailing while watching tv for the most part. And it'll be my first choice when I travel, unless of course I need the CPU power of the i7 for video encodes on the road. Which is only a few times a year, the rest of the time, the air should be more than enough. I can even install Windows 7 on it for vpn purposes, etc.
- What tasks will you use it for?
I've got it loaded up with Office 2011 and the CS5 suite, both work fine for the light duty I need them for. I'm very impressed with the air's snappiness. Of course I don't think it'll ever replace my main machine, it does most everything pretty quickly, and the things it may not excel in, it still does ok. Which is exacly what I expected. It's an ultra portable!
- How would you rate it, scale of 1-10?
For what it is and who it's aimed at, it's a solid 9 in my book. It's definitely not for everyone.
