1% in 1 day that means a stand by for almost 3 months ...its impossible to be true, and even if it is true how this can be a CON?

It's more like 2% per day.

Now others may find that rate to be insignificant, but coming from an iPad 2 and using Airplane mode to turn on/off the network connectivity, my iPad 2 could sleep for 7 days and the battery level would not budge.

so your ipad 2 didn't lose any percentage if you let it sleep for 7 days?
ok...even if you changed the battery on your ipad 2 with new one...still....to not lose 1% after 7 days, hard to believe
Maybe if you turn off the ipad

I thought the Surface Pro 6 was very capable in doing laptop things, but had no clue how to operate it in tablet mode. The build quality of the SP6 and Surface Book 2 are very nice.

I’ll stick with iPads for art.

After being away from Windows for about 5 years, I came back. At first it was jarring (I really did like the simple elegance of Mac OS). Once I got it set up to my liking, I have found that it is a lot better than it was in the past.

The main driver for me (versus iPad) was access to the full Adobe CC suite.

It certainly is better in many ways, but I borked those Surface devices thinking I knew what I was doing, but clearly did not. I understand that Windows is just not for me yet, but I like some of the hardware a lot. I will be learning Affinity’s suite eventually which is also cross platform.

For now though, I’ll let the more tech savvy deal with Windows and continue with macOS and iOS (the less I use the latter on the iPads, the better).

Using Cover for comics and books and Plex for movies...the SP6 performs very adequately in tablet mode so far. Will install VLC as a standalone viewer as well.

And later, I plan to explore whether other apps in the Microsoft Store as well as Windows programs can fill other needs.

I've been using PressPlay Viewer from the MS Store on my Surface Go and used it previously on my old Dell Venue 8 Pro. I works well for me as a touch based video player. I also have the standard desktop version of VLC on both and it works great on both machines as well, but isn't as functional in a touch based environment. I don't find the Universal version of VLC to be as good.

Thanks for that...I'll keep it in mind when I try other apps for the SP6.

The Go has the potential in maybe lure in some iPad users in the future. If it gets refreshed with something a little more powerful on the next update while keeping costs reasonable, it could sway more people on the fence.

I really would have liked to stay on the iPad, but the new iPPs with their bumped up prices and their very limited use cases and a slew of other reasons...I just grew tired of waiting on a half-baked product..

I'm very much in the same boat, looking to upgrade my iPad but also finding myself in a position where I need to upgrade my Windows Kit and been looking to see what i can do.

The trouble is that the iPad Pro 12.9 I've had does actually allow me to do about 95% of what I need to do work wise (IT Admin / SharePoint Design) along with a nice screen for Remote Desktop/Citrix (especially with a Citrix mouse!) and also has all of the media apps, entertainment apps that I use for my down-time which allows me to store music, video and content offline for when I need it.

The iPad also gives me all day battery life, 4G connectivity and a nice compact size for my bag.

There is the odd thing that I really need a "proper" PC for and I've never been too fussy if thats Windows or Mac (I can always Install W10 as well) - but while I like the Surface Pro 6 range (and they're competitive price wise with the new 12.9" iPP) I just struggle with the Surface for those things I use an app on iPad for (Media mainly) - its almost impossible to download anything for offline viewing on a PC (unless you torrent it).

I'm currently torn between another iPP and a Desktop at home (Mac Mini with OSX/W10 on it - or an Intel NUC with Windows 10) - that way I can remote in when I need Windows applications or the second option of ditching Apple completely and picking up a Surface Pro 6 (i5/8GB/256GB) for mobility and the home desktop for more processing power when I need it.

The SP6 256GB is on offer for not a lot right now (£900 with the Keyboard) - that and either a Mac Mini or the Intel NUC for home is actually about the same as the 1TB iPad Pro that I'd be looking at.

It would leave me a gap in terms of "entertainment" but I could potentially look at a picking up a used 10.5" Pro or even go down the Android/ChromeOS route and look for a Chromebook that would allow me to use Android Apps for offline storage of media!
