Yeah well - just to stick it to AT&T on Sept 25th - I'm not sending a single MMS. They will never get my MMS business. I will NEVER send a single MMS. Take THAT AT&T! :)

Well, back to the topic of the thread, I've read of other people saying this works...

However...I tried it today at wireless.att.com...changed from unlimited to 200..got the e-mail that the settings took effect immediately....waited half an hour, changed it back to unlimited...got the e-mail that the change took effect, and I'm still no go.

I mostly do stuff like this to tinker around, but in reality, it's only a week away. I can live till the 25th.

Yea, I was told of this yesterday and it didn't work...

Edit: Funny enough it just started working but not because of this "trick."

You mean 160 character limit...

i think it depends on the phone and the carrier. i think my girlfriends Sprint Rumor can go up to 1000 characters. haven't actually bothered to count it. then again she like to randomly count the blades of grass so maybe i can trick her in to counting it for me. lol. :D

Yes. MMS has a 1,000 character limit. Not like the iPhone tells users when they are near/over the limit of one text message. I like that fact.

I have an even better trick:

Let 8 days go by.

You get MMS.

Oh yea! Well my method only takes 7 days! :p

  1. Turn off your phone
  2. Put it under your pillow
  3. Go about your day
  4. Wish for the MMS fairy to come in your sleep
  5. On the 7th day you can take your phone out and plug it into your computer.
  6. You should get a message asking you if you want to sync the phone. Do it.
  7. Send an MMS :p

I don't understand why everyone is so immature and crucifing all of these MMS threads. The OP had something that worked for him/her. They were trying to help us out. So, either try out what was recommended or chill out and wait another 7 days. Lets all try to act our age and just be appreciative of the help other posters are willing to share with us.

OP, thanks for the advice. I tried it but it did not work. Oh well...

Should I make a new thread about it or a blog?

The Aggie method. It's guaranteed (unless AT&T screws up). What do you think?

Putting faith in a company that's made it mission statement to **** over it's customers and be consistently late with everything, always, forever? Seriously?

Or an even better trick, just use email, it's free under the data plan.

*yawn*...yeah, Jobs tried that line, too, and it's as much bullsh*t now as it was then. Also, MMS is free under the texting plan which is just as "free" as it would be under the expensive data plan.

They're just running up their post counts and have nothing useful to add.

can i skip the first 2 steps? i'd like to use my phone while doing the remaining steps!

Are you serious? 8 whole days? I'm going to go make a thread complaining that 8 days is too long now.

Just a heads up, by changing any features in your plan before your billing cycle starts you risk the chance of some pro rated charges. I was told this by 3 different reps. They may not be much in the case of texting plans, but why bother getting charged anything if in 7 days you will get this for free?

Serious question:

Do I need 3.1 to use MMS on the 25th? When MMS comes on the 25th, does it come automatically or do I need to sync for some "update" to enable MMS?

I ask because I do not currently sync my iPhone. I only have 2 Linux machines therefor I cannot update until I get a mac, hopefully soon!

Most of my friends don't have iPhones and their phones don't do email. So the only way they can send a picture to me is through MMS. Plus, I don't know what carrier everyone has so there is no way to email them the picture.

Blah blah blah...

Everyone says this.

You can use the email gateways and I even wrote an applescript that goes through your whole address book and looks up everyones carrier and creates the propper email address. Been using it for a year now and even after MMS is out I'll still be using it (I'm not going to pay $20 more a month for unlimited, I only pay $5 for 200)

Hey can you give me a link to this applescript? That sounds great!
