very smart

i've been loathing these iPhone rumors for a long time, but i must say it looks like an amazing device... very smart...

oh... and i think the new iPods will have Safari built in with wifi...

What about people (uhmm mostly girls) with long nails?

Like those girls who type on a laptop keyboard and you see them typing almost horizontally. It is almost impossible to type on a powerbook/MBP with those long nails... and the awful sound of a nail screech. ARGHH!

Not to mention scratches...

girls who have long nails are dumb... and dumb girls shouldn't be using computers... the end.

Scratches? On a glass surface? Are these girls by any chance related to Wolverine?

The video says "Dock your iPhone with the computer you activated it with to restore it", what if I activate with my mac pro, then sync it with my macbook pro because I travel a lot?
Do I have to go home to restore my iPhone, and go without it in the mean time?!

I am *this* close to selling my Blackberry and cancelling my plan with T-Mobile. My girlfriend wants a new iPod, so I'm (wrongly) using that as a justification to spend nearly $900 on this thing (price of the phone plus my cancellation fee).

I would be wise not to go to an Apple store tonight to "just look".

What if you activate your phone with your Mac Pro running Tiger, and wipe it and install Leopard when that comes out? What information persists on your computer that determines your ability to make the phone usable again?

You'll have to throw away the iPhone and get a new one.:D

just flip a coin...

heads: keep your blackberry, don't buy iPhone
tails: sell blackberry, end contract fee, buy iPhone

so when you get heads, you can say "who am i kidding?", sell your blackberry, end contract fee, and then get the iPhone...

this method of decision making always works...

all the literature is saying 6 pm local time at apple and at&t stores, but I have not seen anything concerning the beginning of iPhone sales on the online Apple Store.

Anyone have any info on this?

CNBC is starting to hedge their bets, Good sign

After days of trashing the iphone with made up "facts" and amazingly negative stories, they are starting to soften. Could it have something to do with the long lines that are forming?

One recent report actually sounded positive, regarding the sharp increase in EDGE network speed. They did however say they would look into these reports and get back to the viewers in and hour and a half. Breaking news....

They even interviewed Kevin Rose and Alex Albrecht at the front of the Palo Alto store. They were quite funny actually.

By hedging their bets (20 negative reports, 2 positive reports) they can come out on Monday when the iPhone launch is a HUGE success and play the 2 positive stories over and over again and say "See, we were right!"

Days of negative stories (Apple shares go down), One day of slightly positive stories (Stock goes up, BIG). It's a shame that CNBC has this much influence. :(

and I'm off...

Well as I tell my students: Proper Prior Planning Prevents Poor Performance.

When the whole "apple phone" "iphone" "appleberry" was being rumored I just knew there was too much smoke for there not to be a fire. So I planned ahead, put back some money, and refused to renew my Alltel contract until I found out officially what company the "rumored apple phone" would be on. The day is here and I'm off to get mine. No more crummy razr, no more crummy Alltel.

See you on the other side friends. Can't wait to start reading stuff on new imacs as I get to purchase one of those for my office this year! Perhaps I've become a fan boy... but you know what???? Atleast I'm fan boy of products that truly work. :)

NBC the incestuous half sibling to Microsoft

Oops, spoke too soon, looks like CNBC has passed the Bash iPhone torch onto NBC (bigger ratings). Meredith Vieira couldn't take a call from Matt Lauer in studio and she had problems. I'd watch the video but the NBC viewer requires Windows Media Player 10 AND Flash. No thank you.

As a matter of fact, thank you to Apple for NOT putting flash on the safari browser for the iPhone. It's amazingly annoying going to a lot of websites nowadays.

As to NBC? Cell phone reception in a TV studio. Hey, that wouldn't be an hostile enviroment to cell signals.

They really should rename MacRumors to Pointless iPhone Stuff!

It's all we've had on here for the past few weeks.
