You know what sucks, I would have bought a Crystal Film screen protector day 1 if Apple had them stocked in the store.. I didn't want to be bothered ordering online, or going into Manhattan to get one. Now look, I have to go to the city anyway, and also a scratch. You live you learn. iPad 2 will definitely be getting screen protector day 1.
What upsets me is that there is a double standard in the fact that people do get their iDevices replaced for scratched screens while others don't.
I have no scratches on my iPhone or my iPad. Unless you are doing things with it that you shouldn't you shouldn't have any scratches. This I can't understand. I have had screen protectors on previous devices and all you're going to do is convince yourself that it looks decent.
Then again, if you're using it as a frisbee or something to get scratches, maybe it's a good buy.
Sometimes I would swap people's product just to shut them up and avoid getting a headache. I couldn't take it anymore, that's why I quit.
For all the people in here whining about a scratch in your iDevice and suggesting contacting your credit card company or going to the Genius Bar I have a few things to chime in with.

For the credit card claims. Are you serious? Thanks a lot for raising interest rates and fees. It's ******** claims like this that everyone else ends up paying for. It's one thing if you totally wrecked it, but you got a few scratches on it.
Everything in this world needs insurance or "protection" these days. Take responsibility for your own actions.

I don't use credit cards, PERIOD. And yes, you are wrong for submitting a claim and getting A FULL refund for a scratch. Did you buy another iPad with the refund? I doubt it. You got a free scratched iPad because YOU scratched it. You gamed the system. People like you do it all the time. Buy something and submit a claim to get a freebie. Are you saying I'm somehow wrong to actually use the accidental damage benefit that my credit card company offers? I sent them a picture of the scratch and they honored my claim. They are the ones who decide whether the scratch is considered damage.
Also, I, like most financially responsible people, have never paid a penny in credit card interest or fees. I don't care if interest rates go up to 100%, if you are actually paying interest on your cards, you are a fool. Also, if you don't take advantage of the benefits your credit card company offers, you are also a fool.
AMEX has NEVER required the damaged item to be sent in. Last letter I got a few weeks ago said that the claim was resolved, they have issued a $665 credit (I have 32GB wifi) into my account and if I had any more questions, I could call them 24/7.
What CC company have you used for claims?

American Express. Platinum Charge.
The three times I've used it I have had to send the item in...
