That does look very good. And thats all I can really say about it, is that it looks like A++ work.
Thank you everyone for the renewed interest and kind comments, but I decided not to implement it, for two big reasons: first, it wasn't original enough (it does look like OS X + Vista), and second it would have been a logistical nightmare to make work properly in IE 6. Anyone who wants to is welcome to take the design and implement it, as long as I'm given credit for the concept.
If, by chance, I ever actually have enough free time and motivation to implement this (both of those things are doubtful, but who knows what might happen), I will definitely post it here. I just started a new job and I'm getting married this summer, so things are a little nuts right now.
congrats dude! you dont have the psd file you made lying around do you? thnx
ditto
Here is a .zip of the 4 mockups, in Fireworks format. Good luck. Do your best to keep it clean and fully cross-browser compatible.
2nd that, the theme looks crazily good in the mock ups...
you any closer to realising this dream?
I'd like to get involved with this as well as I've been very interested in this theme look & feel since when it first came out (beautiful theme IMHO). I've been playing around with Wordpress, Joomla & Drupal and all their theme's & templates and just haven't been satisfied with what I've found. Was planning going from scratch with one of them but this route would be much better. Please let me know what I can do to get involved. I have web (html/dhtml/css/js) and graphics (Fireworks/Photoshop) experience along with web application experience. Thx!
Me too! Is this template available yet? It is awesome!!!
Sounds like you could definitely contribute! But the implementation of this is tominated's project now, so I'll let him decide if he needs help and how he might want that help. I'm just here in a design advisory role at this point. However, I would encourage you, tominated, to post your code here -- or at least send it to some of us -- periodically as you progress so people can give it a lookover and maybe offer contributions or more efficient ways of doing things. Never hurts to have another set of eyes.
He's only had my mockup files for one day, give him some time![]()
Slow down there for a second. We've got some QC to do on your code. Looks great, I just think we need to get everything just right before turning it into themes. It *definitely* benefits you to have everything exactly right in a static mockup before integrating it with code. You'll save a lot of headaches.
1. Margins. A lot of the stuff is crammed too far up against the sides. Both sidebars need a little more space, in each section. Also need more spacing after each post before the next one.
2. Alignment of login button with form -- it's not vertically aligned.
3. Can you also do the other color mockups? Especially the green one that's highlighting the quick search feature, that little arrow pointing to the search box (where is the search box, by the way?) might be tricky, and the alignment of all the search results and stuff is important.
There's a few other minor issues with some of the font weights and things like that, but some of that's pretty subjective. I'll be home all day tomorrow so I'll take a quick pass at it then. BTW, I'm looking at this in FireFox. Anyone checked it in IE yet?
Fantastic work overall! I'm impressed.
