Thank you everyone for the renewed interest and kind comments, but I decided not to implement it, for two big reasons: first, it wasn't original enough (it does look like OS X + Vista), and second it would have been a logistical nightmare to make work properly in IE 6. Anyone who wants to is welcome to take the design and implement it, as long as I'm given credit for the concept.

If, by chance, I ever actually have enough free time and motivation to implement this (both of those things are doubtful, but who knows what might happen), I will definitely post it here. I just started a new job and I'm getting married this summer, so things are a little nuts right now.

congrats dude! you dont have the psd file you made lying around do you? thnx

I actually do all my mockups in Fireworks, in their native layered PNG format. I'll still post the files here later tonight, hopefully they'll be of some use to you.

I'd be willing to help or advise if you guys need that. I just don't have the time to do it all myself. And I can whip up a Wordpress theme in no time flat, so if you get close to done with the XHTML/CSS and want my help on the Wordpress side I'm sure I can find the time for that.

I'd like to get involved with this as well as I've been very interested in this theme look & feel since when it first came out (beautiful theme IMHO). I've been playing around with Wordpress, Joomla & Drupal and all their theme's & templates and just haven't been satisfied with what I've found. Was planning going from scratch with one of them but this route would be much better. Please let me know what I can do to get involved. I have web (html/dhtml/css/js) and graphics (Fireworks/Photoshop) experience along with web application experience. Thx!

Sounds like you could definitely contribute! But the implementation of this is tominated's project now, so I'll let him decide if he needs help and how he might want that help. I'm just here in a design advisory role at this point. However, I would encourage you, tominated, to post your code here -- or at least send it to some of us -- periodically as you progress so people can give it a lookover and maybe offer contributions or more efficient ways of doing things. Never hurts to have another set of eyes.

Me too! Is this template available yet? It is awesome!!!

He's only had my mockup files for one day, give him some time :)

right now me and yagran are making it. Yagran has already made a menu template, although I think it lacks web semantics (i'll fix up the code though). here is the link

holy damn! I only spent an hour or two on it and now look how much I have done!! Almost ready to put content in it (some of the sidebar is done). I just can't get the right side of the glow to work. You can veiw the source ans the css is not an external stylesheet (yet). linkety

Nice work so far!!!! I'm glad you're able to do this, it will be nice to see it come to fruition. I look forward to seeing more of it.

Wow, that was quick. I have already finished it!. now i need to make it into a wordpress and rapidweaver theme! view the template at the previous link. (BTW: me and yagran made the name creative loop and aren't sure if it was taken)

BTW:
@mrogers: could you convert it to a wordpress theme? or at least tech me how?
@everyone: I have realised that the template currently only works with gecko browsers

Slow down there for a second. We've got some QC to do on your code. Looks great, I just think we need to get everything just right before turning it into themes. It *definitely* benefits you to have everything exactly right in a static mockup before integrating it with code. You'll save a lot of headaches.

1. Margins. A lot of the stuff is crammed too far up against the sides. Both sidebars need a little more space, in each section. Also need more spacing after each post before the next one.
2. Alignment of login button with form -- it's not vertically aligned.
3. Can you also do the other color mockups? Especially the green one that's highlighting the quick search feature, that little arrow pointing to the search box (where is the search box, by the way?) might be tricky, and the alignment of all the search results and stuff is important.

There's a few other minor issues with some of the font weights and things like that, but some of that's pretty subjective. I'll be home all day tomorrow so I'll take a quick pass at it then. BTW, I'm looking at this in FireFox. Anyone checked it in IE yet?

Fantastic work overall! I'm impressed.

Yeah, it was a bit of a rush job.

Wow, fantastic job you guys and in record time! I see only a couple of glitches in Safari and just one subtle suggestion in both Safari and Firefox.

Safari glitches - 1) The inlaid pointers in the right side box are not lining up in the white (main) area but are slid over on the right about 25 pixels. 2) The text in the main box is not a scrollable text area but rather just extending down the page.

Firefox & Safari suggestion - I like how the vertical dotted line to the left of the word Blog looks in the original mockup versus the new look (3/4th height versus full height). It just seems to look a little bit better because it doesn't look like a split of a graphic. Just a thought...

Let me know if you need any help converting colors/graphics and I'll be happy to help!

Ok I have a question, I am learning XHTML and CSS, not Dreamweaver and honestly what is wordpress, I use Textmate and Nvu. What is it?
