The nexus 4 really is a lousy device. Albeit a sexy looking one. The battery life is abysmal and the camera is awful.

I just spent 3 weeks with it as my daily device. It was my first major experience with android and I enjoyed that part quite a bit. Back to my iPhone now and there are a few things I miss already, mainly the ability to select my own default apps, a cleaner ui thanks to the app drawer, and native Swype support.

That being said, the nexus 4 is lucky to see much over 2 hours screen time with anything other than absolute minimal brightness and heavy usage restrictions. This was a huge problem for me and the main reason I chose to sell it. The terrible camera was the second reason. It's impossible to get a decent picture in anything but perfect circumstances. I also had QC issues that have been mentioned, the constantly buzzing earpiece and the popping rear speaker.

I look forward to jail breaking my iPhone to get some of the standard android features back. I'm very interested to see what the S4 ends up like. If iOS7 isn't a dramatic update I'll gladly switch to android, but I won't bother with a cheap device like the nexus 4 again.

I really would be shocked if they did not implement some kind of app drawer...such a little thing that would make so many people happy.

1) If I get 4 hours of screen time that is already solid
2) Saw the pictures myself and they are fairly decent
3) I can live with that
4) I can live with that
5) You already knew that when you bought it

The arguments seem pretty weak in my opinion. You are saying I should pay $300 extra to solve all these problems and get an iphone instead? While losing on things such as pattern unlock, swype, kinetic scrolling, set any app as default, google integration, big display. Just out of curiosity what previous phones have you owned?

1) Good luck trying to get 4 hours screen time--never saw that in a month of use.
2) You have low camera standards then because camera is terrible compared to competition.
3) Again, you have low standards of you find a constant buzzing in the earpiece as acceptable.
4) See number 3

Why does everyone automatically assume that if someone levies criticism of an Android device that they're an iPhone fanboy? I know Couch wouldn't make the recommendation you suggested, nor would I. I would however recommend spending the extra money on a Note 2 out of contract as it has none of these problems and adds the benefit of a removable battery and expandable storage.

My $0.02...I wouldn't recommend it at $600, have a hard time even at the $300/$350 Google is charging out of contract The extra $300 I spent on an out of contract Note 2--definitely worth it.

I find 4 hours of screen time is pretty realistic -- depends on the brightness setting of course.

The camera isn't great for sure, but I'm having fun with the photosphere thing.

My earpiece doesn't buzz as far as I can tell.

I'm getting faster data speeds with T-Mobil's HSPA than I am with AT&T's LTE here in Austin.

I think it's a bit overly mood swingy to call this phone not worth the price Google is charging for it. It's a bargain if it suits you, and isn't defective. As always it should be considered against the other options available.

I just ordered a 32GB iPod touch 5 for $250 that will replace my N7. Put Talkatone on it, and pair it with the N4, and it's pretty much a iPhone 5. For the price that the OP paid, I get 48GB of storage, tons of screen time. a good camera, access to two ecosystems (I prefer, and am already invested into, Apple's), and essentially unlimited talk, text and data for less than $30 a month. And both devices together are at least as easy to carry as a Note 2. Works for me. :p

You can take any phone to best buy and get the insurance....you do not have to buy it from them. I took an s3 there after buying it from ATT off contract b.c it was $250 cheaper than Best buy was selling it for.

Thank you so much for this information! I had no idea this could be done, or I would have taken advantage of it a long time ago. I called the store to confirm that it would work with the Nexus 4 and they said yes it would. I just ordered the Nexus 4 today from Google so I'll add on Best Buy's protection as soon as I get the phone.

Thanks again! :D

no problem. Funny b.c when I had the last nexus they only had the verizon version of the phone in their system. I ended up damaging it and they gave me the full retail price of the phone since they could not ordered an unlocked one. I paid $349 for the phone and they gave me $699 on the claim.

Might get the Nexus 4 if it has a microSD card slot. I have nearly 14GBs of media stored on my 16GB microSD card.
