You have no notion of what 'tiny footprint' is if you think Apple IOS footprint / global sales are less than Google sales of Nexus devices, and yet Google can't even roll out the full suite of Nexus updates all at same time.

Likewise if you believe it suddenly is going to 'break the Internet' by doing so and that this is even a consideration then you are being very naive.

mi7chy is a special little individual, living in his own fantasy world. In his world, Google can do no wrong, but then again, can't seem to figure out how to roll out an update to the millions of Nexus devices at the same time.
Whereas, Apple rolls out the update to 10s to 100s of millions of devices as the same time, but they are somehow the company that is hurting here.

Looks like there are many Google apologists out there as there are Apple apologists.

My stock never modded 2013 Nexus 7 has been sitting here, waiting for the Lollipop update that never comes. It's 2015 now. How long has it been since the Lollipop rollout started

I just bought another Nexus 7 at clearance price, 32GB for $128 at Staples, and sold my 16GB even money. That Nexus was built in August 2013. It sat there unsold for over a year, much like the couple other ones I bought this year. My guess is Google sells a small fraction of Nexus as Apple does with iPads, yet Apple can handle mass rollout of updates all at once, while Google staggers it over MONTHS :rolleyes:

That's just it. Google, the same company that handles the majority of web searches, also handles YouTube. And yet, can't handle a rollout of Android to the few million Nexus devices at the same time?
Apple not only can handle the rollout of iOS to the multi millions on iOS devices out there at the same time, but also can somehow handle the rollout of OS X to the millions of Macs on the market. And that OS is much larger than a simple mobile OS.
Now you can see why Google unbundled the majority of apps from the OS. Imagine if only a few devices were actually able to take advantage of the updated apps, since Google can't seem to figure out how to provide timely OS updates to all devices at once.

January 2nd, and my Nexus 7 still does not have 5.0. I'm not going to do the reset someone mentioned earlier as it messes up too many settings. Meanwhile, my Nexus 4 has had it for nearly two months.

I never had the patience to wait for OTA, I always ended up sideloading it.

Yep staggered rollouts suck, gotta learn to sideload unfortunately

What is crazy about it is how only Google and Motorola are updating devices in the wild with Lollipop (or allowing sideload). Samsung and HTC haven't started their rollout yet. (Applies to US only, lol I think Samsung has tolled out 5.0 to some European countries).
