Really im a liar? saying what i think of the tablet? cool story.

I totally Retract my good statements on the Nexus 7, I recieved mines 5 hours ago and it's allready packed up ready to send back, it's garbage, Sluggish, Pages don't load fast enough on the browser, And it's less responsive than IOS, Massive dissapointment for me, Will never be buying android again.

Give me a break! This is so obvious it's funny.

Im starting to wonder if any of you have acctually tried a ios device, the diffrence is quite easy to see, It's massive actually.

Dude the hole you are digging for your credibility is getting deeper with each post. Honestly, you should just move along to another thread. Yes Android and iOS are very very different...SO? Neither is perfect, I could rattle off a dozen problems with iOS 6...nothing is perfect, go buy what you want; but stop spreading BS for the sake of it.

I'm not spreading BS it's you lot, I bought a nexus 7 i tried it, I don't like android after that experience and won't be getting it again, I dont know what's not to understand?

I tried the N7, did not like it. I will go to an Apple Store and try the iPad Mini for a while. If I don't like it, I will go for a Playbook 64GB, currently priced at 129 pounds.

Both are too small for me personally, but an iPad Mini for the wife will probably happen.

Oh god. Don't pick the playbook over those two.

what didn't you like about the Nexus?

The Playbook is by far the best tablet I have tried out. This doesn't mean that it is the best tablet out there, but probably the one that suits my needs best. Nice screen, nice OS, fast and responsive, its ergonomy is surprising. It comes with a nice office suite and the browser is excellent. The only problem is the absence of Skype, but I can live without.

The very first impression about the Nexus 7 was "WOW". After I started using it a bit, I simply found it "Meh". There is no particular reason: the screen is bright, the OS is quite fast (but a bit too messy, IMHO) and the apps you can download are pretty much countless. I found it quite uncomfortable to hold, plasticy and kind of "cheap". It did not give me a nice feeling. That's all.

My Mini is due to arrive tomorrow afternoon, at that point I'll be able to compare the two together.

Based on the published reviews it seems the iPad mini is a great little tablet. Not perfect but a solidly built and nicely designed tablet. The weakest link appears to be the price, then followed up with the lower resolution. Since Best Buy and other stores stock the Kindle Fire and N7, I'm going to take some bench marks on the mini with regard to how the kindle app displays and the web browser.

My girlfriend has a playbook for over a year now.... Its choppy, buggy, slow, No Apps.... I mean if a tablet can't even have skype or Netflix it has issues.

I mean I have a Nexus 7 so I'm going to be a bit biased, but she never wants to use her playbook. always my Nexus.

I just think you will be disappointed. The playbook hasn't had a tech upgrade in over a year and a half.

But in the end its your choice so enjoy what you get.

I bought a nexus 7 a couple days ago. I upgraded from a nook tablet 1024x600 resolution (mini is 768 due to 4:3 display)

Anyways I would never go back to a lower resolution display. The 720p display on thus 7inch tab is amazing text is so much clearer and easier to read then it was on the nook tablet.

Can't imagine why apple didn't at least include a 720p display in the mini it wouldn't have cost more but I guess since their ecosystem and apps are very poor at scaling resolutions they took the easy way out and threw the iPad 2 red display in there.

I'm not making excuses for apple, but wouldn't a HD display only show itself in HD movies? That is, surfing, email, apps wouldn't really benefit from HD.

Now if you're talking retina, then yes all of the above will benefit but for what ever reason apple did not design the mini for HD (or retina). I'm personally not shook up over it, as I'm not hung up on watching HD movies on my 7" tablet (regardless if its the N7, Kindle fire HD or the mini).

I am confused over the resolution talk

I thought the iPad Mini was 1024x768

Which, although less than the Nexus 7 is still more than 720p

720p is generally considered to be 1280x720, so the iPad is not wide enough to show that content a full resolution.

iOS isn't 'poor' at scaling resolutions, they just work under their own terms, so they chose to only deal with the scaling multipliers that work perfectly - 1 and 2. Android doesn't have that luxury because their business model is based upon choice, so they need to be able to accommodate whatever screen size and pixel density a manufacturer chooses. This gives flexibility in hardware, but means that almost every scale factor is non-ideal.

If you have an Android device that does not have 160ppi (the reference point) or 320ppi (exactly double that) you will have visible artifacts. Very high resolution screens like the upcoming Nexus 10 minimize how visible these are, but don't make them go away completely.

Thanks

I just thought HD referred to the vertical pixels, 720 or 1080

It's an aspect ratio, so you have to consider both dimensions. For TV it's 16:9, so for a given height of 720, the width must be 1280.

I've had the 16GB N7 for a while now and my iPad3 has been sitting unused for most of that time. The N7 is doing exactly what I need, the size is ideal especially for travelling, the screen is excellent and battery life has been great. My iPad3 is going up for sale now.

Not sure on the diffs between the iPad mini and the N7 but I agree with another poster here in that the slight extra width of the iPad mini may be uncomfortable. As-is the N7 is just about the max width to hang onto comfortably with one hand and even at that I find I get a little bit of tendon pain in my thumb for extended periods. Because of that I tend to hang onto the N7 just by a single edge along the bezel. The iPad mini has a narrower bezel along the side of the screen which will make it more difficult to hold by just one edge like you can with the N7. I think a lot of people are going to find that to be a real issue with the mini.

Someone else asked about Magazines on the N7 and I can say they have been fine with my Zinio app. I was worried about that compared to my iPad which is awesome for Zinio but that turned out to be a non issue. Mags are easy to read on the N7 especially in portrait mode. (and easily zoomed if there is some especially small text)

The only thing I'm missing from my iPad3 is the 3G cellular support but it sounds like a new N7 will be out in late November that includes 3G. I'll be buying that one in a heartbeat. I don't use the 3G often but it's handy when you do need it and also makes it easier to track a misplaced device with any of a dozen different "find my device" apps for Android.

No doubt the iPad mini is a fine device but I've made my choice and no regrets. Also saved a nice chunk of change in the process! If you're heavily invested in the famous Apple walled garden then the choice is obvious, the mini. If you're a little more flexible and appreciate more flexibility in your device then give the N7 a hard look. I know I was pleasantly surprised. (and Google Now rocks!) Cheers!

P.S. You also get a GPS chip in the N7 which the iPad mini only includes in the 3G version.
