I won't buy it because the wife would kill me! Plus to be honest it would be a waste of equipment with my poor talents!

In all seriousness though, if I had that sort of spare dosh, I'd step up to a medium format digital system for much better quality and image control potential again.
Actually, the official announcement will be in February. The January announcement was not much more than that Nikon would have one (behind glass) at CES. No full reviews with sample shots yet. Even the specs are just a rumor at this point.
The most commonly rumored specs certainly appear underwhelming, but I am holding my opinion until I see the reviews, especially about the claimed AF improvements and what happens with ISO (an ISO improvement in the range of that on the D3s over the D3 would probably get me to buy, to replace my D3s).

I will buy the D4s because I was saving for the D4 which I had planned to buy at the end of March or beginning of April. So, the timing is perfect. I don't expect the price to be much higher than the D4 ... $6300-6500.. I am expecting the resolution to be increased to 24MP to match the D600 / D610.

ISO 25,600 looks usable with some PP. Faster, some "quick file" options, longer battery life and better video. Overall, an interesting addition to the "S" line. Now where's that D4x Nikon?

If Sony keeps it up, they'll steal the show from both Nikon & Canon.

Personally I love how Canon and Nikon continually leap frog one another, it forces better products into the marketplace. It would be great if Sony started pushing the envelope as well. However, as long as Sony keeps pushing SLT they're simply a consumer level product not something that can seriously compete in the high frame-rate sports/BIF market for serious pros. I've tried the Sony SLT burst mode and, especially when compared to my Canon 7d/5d3/1Dx, it's a joke of epic proportions.
I agree, mirror less has a ways to catch up for sports action. The A7 shutter is loud compared to my Phase One.
While I am an advocate for some mirror-less models of cameras, it would be foolish to disagree about action shooting such as various types of sports. Getting the right camera for the right job (type/style of shooting) hopefully is what matters to serious photographers; thus, DSLR still rule the roost.
There are a few mirror-less cameras that are coming close to usable for moderate action sports. The high end Olympus comes to mind.
Given that I don't shoot sports, I find the Fuji X series ideal for my hobby needs. I have shot with Nikon DSLRs in the past and admit that I am partial to Nikon (lenses) but never liked the DSLR menus. For new 'shooters,' the entire menu system and buttons is what the grew up on. For those like myself that come from many years of film cameras, it was an unpleasant adventure getting into the change or mode of thinking with digital cameras.
Nikon has some excellent DSLR cameras, a handful of usable sharp lenses as well as a new RAW converter coming out. If I wasn't into the mirror-less camp, I would continue with Nikon (I had used DXO pro, Nikon's software and Capture One in the past and earlier incarnations of Photoshop).
