Hello everyone,
As the nMP is a pretty small machine, measuring at 25.1cm x 16.7cm x 16.7cm (9.9in x 6.6in x 6.6in) and weighs 5kg/11lb, it begs to be a portable workstation of sorts and for some users they'll be able to bring it around to various places (providing they are provided with Keyboard, Mouse and a Monitor).

So the purpose of this thread is to look for possible cases or bags for the nMP.

There are a few criteria I believe that needs to be placed into consideration:
1. The nMP obviously need to fit into it
2. The inner surface shouldn't scratch the nMP (the cons of having a shiny surface)
3. Strong enough for a 5kg or heavier load
4. Splashproof/water resistance to a degree as you won't want your nMP to get filled with water in situation where it rains.

With those conditions I managed to find a few bags for consideration, if you have any other suggestions, please do!

1. Lowepro Toploader Pro 75 AW [Internal Dimensions: 17 x 17 x 29 cm (6.69 x 6.69 x 11.42 in)]

2. ThinkTank Digital Holster™ 40 V2.0 [Interior Dimensions: 7.25” W x 7.25” H x 8–11.5” D (18.4 x 18.4 x 20.3–29.2 cm)]

Other bags that came in my mind is Bowling bag or Sailing Bags, but I got no experience in the internal design of the bags and if they'll provide enough padding for the nMP.

His blog post isn't up yet, but Phillip Bloom tweeted the other day that he has come up with a great solution for traveling with the nMP that he is writing about. If it goes up in the next few days I will try to remember to post a link here for you.

Looks like he's experimenting with different bags as previously it was another simpler looking bag with the nMP strapped onto it.

Another ThinkTank suggested product, at this rate, ThinkTank will eventually make a real bag for the nMP

I wonder if he'll look into my suggestions

Hmm, I just rechecked ThinkTank Backpack style bags (as I was looking for tumbler style of bag earlier) and it seems there's a few options if you're looking for backpack with the possibly adding more stuffs then just the nMP

1. GlassTaxi [Interior Dimensions: 8.3” W x 16.3” H x 8” D (21.1 x 41.4 x 20.3 cm)]

2. GlassLimo [Interior Dimensions: 8.7” W x 19.5” H x 8.3” D (22.1 × 49.5 × 21.1cm)]

3. Airport Commuter Camera Backpack [Interior Dimensions: 11.5” W x 16.3” H x 6.8” D (29.2 × 42.4 × 17.3cm)]

4. Airport Accelerator Camera Backpack [Interior Dimensions: 13” W x 18.8” H x 6.8” D (33 × 47.8 × 17.3cm)]

Any one had actually buy one of those and test it out?

I'll be looking for the nMP carrying case this weekend, most likely will be looking at the options I've already shared. Will let you guys know if I end up coming home with a new bag

I bought your first suggestion (the Lowepro Toploader Pro 75 AW) on Amazon today- should be here Friday to test out.

Thermodyne case

Lighter than pelican and still pretty bulletproof

TSA will not allow new MacPro as carry on

TSA will only allow laptops - I guess because they can turn them on to check if it really is a computer. I called them and that is what they told me.
I purchased a case made for the New MacPro from www.casecruzer.com.
It looks very rugged and made for luggage.
If anyone has actually flown carry on with a Mac Pro please let me know.

Hmm, I wonder if PhilipBloom has travelled to US yet

I would suggest Tenba. They produce the best cases for shipping photography gear.

In addition, they also have bags for shipping computers. I'm betting they will come up with a case specific to the nMP. Until then, the top loading Air Case can probably satisfy your needs.

I've been looking at http://www.theflightcasecompany.com/new-apple-mac-pro-carry-bag-reinforced-padded-sleeve/ .. also.
Spoke to the company on Friday, they also build hard flight case versions.
Still deciding what to go for, I'll post an image once I've chosen.

Carry On - Correction

Hi all,
A correction to my post re TSA and carryon. I flew Saturday from Los Angeles to Beijing with my new MacPro in luggage (insured) and when I passed through TSA security I asked the supervisor if I could have brought the MacPro as carryon and they said YES. They indicated it might have to have some extra security screening procedures but definitely I could have flown with it.
Good news.
